Same reason Kerry, Gore, and Clinton got 90+% of the black vote.

You realize black people have been staunch democrats before 2008 right?
The only thing Obama did was increase voter turnout, had the democrats ran a white guy the majority of black people would still have voted for the democratic ticket.

What's the ratio of black votes towards Hillary and Obama? That's more telling.

If only a slight majority of Americans express negative views towards blacks, it pretty much makes America the least racist country on earth. Sad but true.

So now Obama deserves blame for not leading us to a racism-free America? This post was beyond stupid.

The point is that the most overt racists in America are blacks themselves, and they get an free pass to get away with it. 400 years of slavery history is just a lame excuse.

No, it's much more complicated. Unfortunately, it's such an emotional topic that you can't even broach the topic and have a well reasoned exchange. But high atop the list of why we still have racism is the fact that blacks commit crimes at extraordinarily high rates, perform the poorest in education, and have a large part of their culture that promotes values that most Americans reject. People are "racist" because people create stereotypes in their lives to handle many circumstances (racial or otherwise). It's these types of shortcuts that simplify decision making -- and by the way are instinctual and consistent. Put simply, people "play the percentages" when they encounter different situations. Until the cultural problems are cleaned up in the black community, there's no reason to expect a positive change in people's reactions towards black people. I wish it weren't the case. Honestly, I think Obama's biggest contribution to society post-Presidency is to help improve black culture.

    SMFH

We have racism, according to TJ, because blacks perpetuate it.

    Right.

How about fear and ignorance? It's really that simple. People fear what they don't know. This is why we also have prejudice against Asians and those from Middle Eastern cultures. Fear and ignorance, my friend. Those of us Caucasians who have friends, family members, acquaintances, etc. who are black, Hispanic, Korean, and others tend to not think so much in terms of black and white. There's so much more to it than that, but to imply that black people cause the racism? U-g-h.

So fear and ignorance is your theory. OK. Then what makes people 'fear' blacks? Can you not see the cause and effect relationship here between crime and fear? And by ignorance, I assume you are referring to ignorance on the part of non-blacks, not the educational performance of blacks. I hope you are aware that some of the most racist people (privately) are highly educated, highly successful members of society. Those are not ignorant people -- quite the opposite.

Feel free to disagree -- but this is how I see it. And I'm in a fantastic position to judge -- free from emotional bias.

What's really important is that you'd insult black voters by assuming they aren't able to look at which candidate best represents their interest on the issues, and instead only look at skin color.

Tell me how much support did black Candidates Alan Keyes, or Herman Caine get from black voters?
