Did anyone watch George W. Bush on Letterman last night? They actually dedicated most of the show to him. I thought he handled himself really well -- he made some good points, and a few good jokes. ------------------ Stay Cool...
I thought the top 10 was hilarious. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
I didn't get to catch it all. Was Dave really grilling him on some stuff? They both looked like they were uncomfortable as hell. ------------------
The top ten was funny. I didn't get to catch all of it but they showed clips of it on some entertainment/news show. ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
Did anyone catch the "White Tie Affair" that both Bush and Gore spoke at (in New York, I believe). I thought they were both pretty funny, poking a little fun at themselves and one another. ------------------
The top ten was hilarious. Top ten things Bush will do if elected: #2 -- First thing, give oval office a good scrubbing. ------------------ Stay Cool...
My favorite was #3 - Will not get sick on Japanese leaders like other President Bushes I know ------------------ Houston Sports Board DFW Sports Board
1. Letterman surprised me, because he was so serious. He actually asked some pointed questions, obviously biased and one dimensional, but at least they were topical. And, he did sound concerned. 2. Bush switched from funny one-liner repartee to strong conviction in answering all of the questions. Nervous at first, then settled into his, "bring-it-on" attitude. 3. Letterman was clearly asking questions that he personally did not like about the Bush platform. He did not appear to be swayed by any of George Dubya's answers. Penal executions and the environment. 4. Junior did well, I thought he explained the death penalty well, citing that he did not have the governor's power (as some state's do) to make broad gestures of executive clemency. He also explained that he follows the State of Texas laws that allow executions. If Texans did not want the death penalty then they would support legislation that reflected that. 5. I thought he showed some class, by not getting overtly political when he was asked about the recent Naval attack in Yemen. He said something like ... at times like these, the nation needs to address this with "one voice" ... and our President is that voice and "I support" our President. (Interestingly enough, the democratic spinsters and media lambasted him the next day for siding with the democrats.) A personal observation by me: When he had Gore on, Lettermen never even got close to controversy or controversial topics. Never quizzed the Tennessee boy about his state record, senatorial record or his main plank platform issues. No sour grapes from me, just the observation that clearly Lettermen's agenda was different for both candidates.Which is what you can do when you own your own show.
