Well, $300 max at 1/3 and $500 max at 2/5 is still silly. Those are the minimum amounts I would sit down with.
Yeah, I agree, for some reason I thought I had played some where that you could at least buy in and match or get closer to the big stack.. I mean if a table has been going for a while eventually a few players are going to be loaded. Regardless, I primarily play nlh 1/3, but I tend to get in early, I'm thinking 2/5 might be better though, I saw some silly **** this last time at a casino on 2/3 nlh, it definitely made me some quick cash w/ the loose play but I think 2/5 might be easier to avoid crazy players.
Good news for online poker in the U.S. https://www.highstakesdb.com/8217-all-regulated-us-states-to-share-poker-player-pools.aspx
Thinking I might checkout Mint Poker soon, Post Oak is a little closer, but $15 an hour seat charge seems kind of steep. At $15 an hour you'll have to win on average 3 decent pots an hour to makeup for what you'd pay vs rake at a real casino.
After reading this thread I have decided to get into this poker thing, because by the sound of it no one ever loses!
https://www.click2houston.com/news/...uRiLl16u5PNGwRCOz0JCPC44mEh70LLVq9REk5OL3WNao apparently there's a ton of players that have money they have yet to cash out. some as high as 6 figures. ouch
Don't play but heard it's a great game for learning to read people. It's cool being outside the state and seeing "Texas hold 'em"
well regardless if its not that high, its unfortunate for any of the players. Did you play at post oak also? or just prime
Yes, I go regularly to the one in RR (every month or so) but considering going a lot more... Last week I did pretty good, I only really play cash tables though, even at casinos... I just prefer to play 4-6 hours, not worry about the blinds and have something to show for the time spent. With that said... They run great tournaments and recently went 24 hours on Friday - Sunday. But... I'm curious now how well this is going to go... Based on the article linked...
This is what's hilarious.... Like at the poker clubs I feel better.... I have played at underground poker rooms and... While they were legit it wasn't my favorite walking out with a stack of cash. At least the legal rooms have hired security, aren't taking a rake and are well lit. Don't get me wrong I'll play underground again but this is a bit more friendly.
So did you get rich? Hahah, I know this post is super old and what you were meaning... A lot of people always bs their winnings. I try to be more honest with myself and keep a spreadsheet to keep record... I also typically only play cash tables. Overall I am up, but there are always going to be bad beats/hell bad nights if you're not disciplined, I mean I've definitely lost some nights, you just gotta know when to split and not drink.
