I like the win-now move with Lou Williams and think it still allows us flexibility considering Lou Williams is a very marketable asset and could be dealt for future assets during the draft if the experiment doesn't work out or if we need to open more cap space. While I agree Harden is in his prime and this might be our 2-3 year window to compete for a title, I would get a lot of heartburn if Morey traded another future first round pick in any trade deadline trade for a marginal upgrade that is not a star, considering we haven't had a first round pick in 2016 or 2017 now.

It's always nice to have future picks (including our second round picks this year) to replenish the coffers with cheap, young talent. Capella and Harrell will only be cheap for one more year before they get paid, and you don't want to get into a situation where you have a capped out team with only one true star ,a bunch of role players, and no future draft picks to upgrade the team later. Cleveland just gives out first round picks like candy (2 for Mozgov, 1 for Frye, and 1 for Korver) and are potentially struggling to upgrade the roster around LeBron now.

Our only 3 expiring contracts Ennis, Nene, and basically KJ would be able to get Wilson Chandler. I honestly don't see a point in trading Nene. He has been very solid as a backup big IMO.

Foolishness is comparing Nene to a younger and former franchise player.

Morey is going all in, expending the Lou Will trade to 3-way for another $10Mi. player. Your logic will seem dumb to Morey's

and yes Millsap worth $30M in the new CBA, he's same, if not better than Conley.

Lol 10M is not Millsap though how does my idea seem dumb to Morey? If anything it shows how your idea is the one thats dumb he ain't trading half they roster to get Millsap and the privilege of paying him 36M.

If Morey does a 10M trade it wont be for a guy whose contract is about to expire it would be for a piece like Wilson chandler or a big like Robin Lopez. And all he's offering are expirings and cash savings, that's a far cry from you wanting to trade multiple picks and breaking the bank for a dude who is gonna be a free agent in 6 months.

Al Jefferson is only 2 years younger than Nene. They've had similar production over the years so even if you consider Al Jefferson a franchise player and Nene is not, the difference between the two isnt big enough to cause a great disparity in their salary. Al Jefferson has a 3 year 10M contract, that means when he's the same age and even older than Nene he'll still make 10M yet Nene's market value is vet min? Really? Tyson Chandler btw is the same age as Nene, how much is he making again? How about Pau Gasol, he1's actually a year older how much did SaS pay to get him?

You said look at players similar to Nene and see how much they're making yet here you are making excuses. Just admit you're wrong dude. No way Nene just makes vet min in an environment Ryan Anderson gets paid 18M.

Getting Lou for a negative asset and the 27/28th pick was great value.
Parlaying that trade and expanding it with additional teams to get a 10-12million dollar player for depth is why Morey is genius.

Great post. Btw Capela and Harrell are both gonna be RFAs. Nowadays big men of their level are not rare, almost every team has a comparable prospect to Capela so I don't think retaining him will break the bank, maybe 12M in a 100M salary cap might do it. OTH, I am confident as hell we're gonna be able to keep Harrell on the cheap if we don't trade him, Green put up a finals MVP performance in the playoffs and people were arguing if he deserved the 15M max due to his height. Unless Harden steps in and negotiates a deal for him like what Lebron did for Tristan Thompson we're gonna be able to resign Harrell cheaply he might not get offers over the 7M that Ariza, Bev and Lou Williams are currently making which is insane.

Anyone notice that both Brewer and Williams wikipedia profiles went back to their respective teams?
