Part of the reason we would trade for Iggy now is so we can shop him at the trade deadline along with our 2020 and 2022 picks this year.

Iggy gives us the salary to look for a major upgrade at the trade deadline, and greatly extend our flexibility for deals not including any of our core.

Why trade for Iggy???? Can’t we just wait till he’s waived instead of losing more draft picks???

Old man Chandler might have a year or two left in him.

Guess this is MDa’s contract year...hope he plays well

If Iggy gets bought out he isn't coming here. The Clippers believe his intention is to sign there.

Those opposed to getting Iggy, y'all realize that in order to make it out the West we're either going to have to face LeBron or PG/Kawhi if not both of their teams, right?

Who to trade for Iggy, though? Salary-wise, it would have to be Capela or EG.

A sign and trade contract has to be 3 years or longer. Why would a rebuilding team take an overpaid Shumpert on a three year contract? No way Shump is worth $14 million a year or whatever the minimum we'd need to match salaries

    Last 2 years aren't guaranteed.
They don't want Shumpert, you'd have to send picks.

I could be wrong on this, but I think any avenue to getting Iggy without getting rid of EG/Clint would be based on a Shumpert S&T, and likely the use of a draft pick. S&T would hard cap us, and while Iggy's $17M is likely a good bit more than we would resign Shumpert for, it still isn't enough to match a star-caliber player (Kevin Love, for example), and the mechanics would be much more complicated as we would be working against a hard cap, with fewer picks, and would still most likely need to attach EG/Clint.

In other words, if we're just looking to flip Iggy, we are probably better off just resigning Shumpert. We would have more picks, no hard cap, and since EG/Clint likely have to be included anyways, Iggy's bigger salary isn't that big of an advantage.

Again, I am no cap expert by any means and could be completely off-base here. Feel free to correct if I'm wrong

Tilman wasted no time being one of the worst things to happen to the Rockets franchise.

Iggy provides a veteran proven wing defender who can hit clutch shots and is on ax expiring very moveable contract.

Much rather have him then Shumpert.

    Russ/Rivers
    Harden/Gordon/Green
    Iggy/House
    Tucker
    Capela/Chandler

If we still had Faried or we can find a a serviceable backup 4 that’s a very good team.

iggy wouldn't be my TOP priority but we'll see maybe they checked in on love and covington and the price was too high.

chandler also wouldn't be my top FA center. Noah had a way better year. even koufos and Gortat were slightly better by the numbers.

the only thing I hope is that we don't go into this season with a lame duck coach, and as soon as there is trouble MDA is removed. that would taste a season when James is 30 and rus is 31. either extend him 1 more year so both sides can figure it out, or remove/replace him before camp starts.

What's all this "Capela can't shoot" nonsense? He's been among the FG% leaders each of the last few years.

You can say that he can't shoot from beyond 10 feet, but how many of those does he even attempt?

iggy can play the backup 4. I'd be interested in a quicker wing player and better shooter like holiday to start at SF

Main thing with Capela is he needs to get a lot more aggressive about rolling to the rim after setting the pick. He is smart about when he can rise up for the lob, really good at catching and finishing around the rim, but he lets himself get taken out too easily when the easy roll is not there for him. He developed a nice Eurostep and I would like to see more of that from him off handoffs and pick rolls.

Definitely want Chandler. Not so sure about Iggy anymore. Also, how could they get him? Didn't they just cough up a bunch of draft picks to OKC to get Westbrook? Memphis will want something in exchange for taking Shumpert in a sign-and-trade.

I’d imagine the deal for Shump would be relatively cheap picks wise. 2nd Rounders at best, so you would have Iggy’s contract and Morey’s usual collection of non-guaranteed contracts to make things match, along with our 1st Round Picks in 2020 and 2022.

I definitely think something could get done, hard cap and all.

Re-signing Shump and keeping him for the deadline is probably the most likely scenario right now. Guess it depends on how much we value Iguodala vs. the hard cap.
