Am I the only one that misses John Paul Stevenson?

    I attended the home opener last night, and I respect Matt Thomas and the fact that he was part of the championship years, but JPS was just better. Maybe its just me appreciating JPS's uniqueness. Am I the only one?

    Absolutely not, JP was amazing imo, i was sad when i heard they let him go, no disrespect to Matt but JP was so much better/unique...best announcer in the nba imo.

    JP was very unique. MT sounds like any other announcer tbh. JP brought that unique energy to the TC.

    I was there too and same thoughts.

    I loved the way he would state opposing player's names like he was really bored when they scored.

    I wasn't able to go to the game last night, but yes I miss him too. He was, IMO, the best announcer in the NBA. I've only been to a handful of games in other cities, but each of the ones that I went to made me realize how great of an announcer he was.

    Especially when the other team scored. I loved the way he announced that.

    "tim.... duncan...."

    On a regular basis he wouldn't announce substitutions for the opposing team, and didn't announce what player our guy was replacing. Basically i sometimes didn't know when a player left or came in (especially if you sit in the upper level). Not a necessity but something that's a common part of an announcer's job.

    JP's voice and style are unmatched. Just give MT sometime to get used to doing the PA again, I'm sure we will have another thread in 10 years about MT getting replaced as PA and us missing his voice.

    I just watched a Mike Conley highlight from this season and he is the PA Announcer for the Grizzlies. Felt weird when he said JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS Ennis -_-

    I was at the game too and John paul was ok IMO... Paul was just too robotic for me versus Matt who always sounds like he has passion for this team when he calls out names and such, i dunno I like uniqueness and not everything being so repetitive all the time.

    Meh. Just a PA announcer.

    Les kicked him to the curb like he did Clutch the Bear, Bill Worrell, Joel Blank, Kevin McHale & whoever else he got rid of.
