Starters SG - Harden SF - Parsons PG - Bev C - Howard PF - Jones Bench SG - Lin SF - Casspi PG - Brooks C - Asik PF - DMO Now, I know Lin is short to play good D as a SG. But neither does Harden, so obviously that's not a deal breaker. And I know Asik has bailed on the team. But if he comes around or whatever.
Isn't that our lineup already anyway? Lin already slides to SG when required. Your only revelation is that you've waived Garcia.
pretty much. Lin is considered a PG who slides to SG. Every time Harden is injured though, he goes off as a SG. So... here are five problems 1. Lin can't play with Harden on the court 2. Lin is better slashing at the basket then distributing. 3. Garcia keeps coming in and playing like hot trash. 4. With Lin and Bev, we don't utilize Brooks. 5. Harden plays too many minutes So... just let Lin be the SG already. Solves all of them. He played that in college, and that's one of the reasons his pg learning curve is so steep.
I think that is exactly how it should be. The perfect lineup. The only question is Asik. I think think he will come around and play great if he is not traded before the deadline. I really can't understand his moves. If he really want to play in the NBA and especially as a starting C, he needs to show that he can play (and play well). Nobody will pick up his heavy contract if he does not show that he is worth it.
I was like WTF?!? Did miss something! lol.... just another LIN lover, dont worry, he will be gone really really soon for better pieces (im not a lin hater, just a realist.)
If you want that, put him at PG to play 3&D. Asik would then get to start at Center and be really happy.
Why do you say this? Stop being so close minded when it comes to Jeremy Lin. The lineup he propose maximize the efficiency of our best players. 1st, 2nd and 3rd option are being used correctly, with Bev and Howard providing defense to cover for Harden's inept defense, Parson slashing and spoting up, Howard inside out/post games, and T. Jones benefiting from the attentive eyes paid to Harden, Howard, and Parson. So whose our next option? Lin. With this lineup, you maximize Lin's efficiency with what's left. Asik to anchor the D, Casspi slashing, Dmo run pnr and post plays, Lin/Brook run some off ball plays with Casspi and Dmo. This ofc would move Garcia out of the rotation. And I feel Asik will have to play soon. He's running out of excuses after his knee heals up. Nice idea, I did not think of this lineup at all I didn't really think of this lineup at all. Nice Topic!
The Rockets played Lin at SG quite a bit to start the season. If you watched McHale's rotations early, you'd see clearly that Lin played a lot at SG. The problem is that the team is not good with Lin there. And horrendous with Lin and Brooks. The most notable example was the Philly game when Lin was torched by a guy who is borderline DLeaguer. Points-Per-Posession stats Lin/Beverley - 1.06, Opp. 1.08. Harden/Beverley - 1.13, Opp 1.03 Lin/Brooks - 1.09, Opp 1.17. Harden/Brooks - 1.10, Opp 1.07 Notice in both cases, Harden the favorite Clutchfans whipping boy of defense has managed to do better than Lin by a significant margin on both offense and defense. The Rockets seemed to notice this too, which is why there were so much despair in GARM regarding Lin's lack of minutes half way through the season. The truth probably is that the Rockets realized that Lin can't really play SG all that well, so he can Beverley got back to their PG time-share like last year.
