I been hearing alot of question of whether Schaub is elite or not Is Kubiak Elite? Do you think he is one of the top 6 coaches in the AFC? I think by Record he will be. [Playoffs] New England Patriots Bill Belichick Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin Baltimore Ravens John Harbaugh New York Jets Rex Ryan The Rest : Kubiak Buffalo Bills Chan Gailey Cincinnati Bengals Marvin Lewis Cleveland Browns Pat Shurmur Denver Broncos John Fox San Diego Chargers Norv Turner Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll Tennessee Titans Mike Munchak Indianapolis Colts Jim Caldwell Jacksonville Jaguars Jack Del Rio Kansas City Chiefs Todd Haley Miami Dolphins Tony Sparano Oakland Raiders Hue Jackson I think the playoff teams will be - Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Jets, Texans, Buffalo [maybe], Chargers [never cut them out] I think norv Turner is a complete boob - Kubiak Prototype - Kubiak is the improvement on him Chan Gailey is. . Chan Gailey Rocket River
I'd think his career would resemble Norv Turner... He's part of that Good Ol Boy Network... But some of them other coaches names are downright depressing..
I rank him under any coach that has made the playoffs. He's doesn't have the excuse of not having talent because he's had more to work with than a lot of coaches.
Buffalo Bills Chan Gailey Denver Broncos John Fox Jacksonville Jaguars Jack Del Rio Those are the only three that stand out as maybe better [outside THE BIG FOUR at the top] I give Chan a bit because he had to work with Jerry Jones Fox did have some success in Carolinaa Del Rio has had some success beyond that . .they rest are just a bunch of guys the problem is. . Kubaik is just another guy too. Rocket River Cowher wins that game yesterday *grin* *snicker*
That's a great call. He's not as bad as we make him out to be, and the fact is - truly elite coaches are even more rare than elite QBs. I think he's either #5 or #6 among AFC coaches.
I think he should stick to what he's good at , offensive playcallin though... He could have a long great career as an assistant... Norv is a great OC but is just doesnt cut-it as a HC... But money talks, so Kubes will get plenty of HCing opportunities WHEN he gets fired from Houston... Thats that Good Ol Boy Network!!!
offensive genius, defensive r****d, sub par game manager. so, whatever "average" is, he's a millimeter below it.
The mastermind: Belichick The elite: Tomlin Ryan Harbaugh The good coaches: Fox Del Rio Caldwell The Just-another-guys: Kubiak Lewis Sparano Haley The jury's still out: Munchak Jackson Shurmur The failing experiment: Carroll The guy who kept great teams from Super Bowls: Turner Kubiak is an NFL-caliber head coach, but he'll never be a stand-out NFL coach. He'll meet expectations with the talent that he has.
I like your list, weslinder, with the exception of Pete Carroll )) and that Kubiak hasn't met expectations with the talent he has, IMO. He's a cut below expectations so far. If I'm wrong, and I hope I am: let him prove it. Like, now.
What Hue Jackson has done with the Raiders offense in a little over a year is incredible. Now we'll see if the defense will follow suit.
I am not sold on Caldwell just yet He was given the keys to a Caddie and simply did not run it ff the road. This year . . .he will have to coach! I don't think he has done anything to help the Colts Defense the Offense was the same as it ever was. All he had to do was simply not ***** with THE FORMULA well .. not Payton is out and the Defense is old. His coaching ability is on the line THIS YEAR If he can get the Colts to 8-8 he will be considered D*MN GOOD Rocket River
Kubiak has not had any more success than Marvin Lewis, and Kubiak has no where near the amount of issues that Lewis has to deal with (cheap owner, criminal players, lack of talent). I don't think Lewis is great, but he's better than Kubiak. Kubiak is just a conservative game manager (who doesn't have the dominant defense to justify that type of style) and horrible clock manager. Those things are obvious to me. I can't comment on the X's and O's.
I look at it this way: there are (1) head coaches who are capable of leading a talented team to a Super Bowl win, (2) coaches who I seriously doubt can lead a team to a Super Bowl win, (3) coaches who pretty obviously can't lead a talented team to a Super Bowl win, and (4) completely unknown/incomplete at this point. Kubiak is in that 2nd category and depending on what happens this season might end up in the 3rd with the likes of Norv Turner, Wade Phillips, Marty Schottenheimer, etc. All coaches capable of winning, but ultimately all that matters is Super Bowls and I want a guy that is capable of winning one of those.
Wow, Del Rio is pretty overrated in this thread. That team hasn't done anything since 2007 and they pretty much quit on him last year. Still can't believe they brought him back.
