Another thought. Do family members invited to sit at the player tables at MSG not have cellphones? They could spoil the moment for the son/brother/nephew by watching Woj tweets and announcing it prior to Silver.

When/if that ever happens, Silver will put a stop to Woj. Woj really should not being doing this...he's just being difficult about it, as usual.

If you are too close to the people you are reporting on, then you end up just being a PR mouth piece. See Stephen A Smith. It's common for reporters to disdain their subjects, especially outside sports. Very hard to make news the priority if you spend time worrying about whether people like you.

Consider for a second why Clutch never went into his stickied Draft Day Coverage thread to announce picks before Silver. He was definitely following Woj tweets the whole time, but he respected that many participating in that thread and watching the live coverage would not want him to beat Silver to the punch, just because Woj announced the pick first.

It's like going to a bar to watch the ESPN coverage with friends (and get away from the internet) and the next table is announcing Woj tweets just to be cool.

    Not cool

Me, I wouldn't get upset that someone told me seconds before Silver. But it would get annoying really quickly. So why shouldn't we be assured that we can participate in Clutch's Draft Thread without people trying to be cool and announcing Woj tweets. What is the fun ppl get in doing that?

And note: Morey went out of his way to screw up Woj. He must have told someone in the League Office room that he's going to announce two picks, one that Woj's source should hear and then text to Woj, and then also the real one. He totally f1cked with Woj.

Are you saying that Woj articles remind you of Stephen A.? If so, I agree.

Why even televise the draft then?

this guy is the most honest and to the point reporter we have covering the nba. along with that, we simply have to accept his sometimes arrogant, cantankerous, and showboating persona as part of the overall package. otherwise we'd have to rely on the remaining refuse of kennedy, amico, SAS, broussard, ford, stein, shelburne, etc

Woj can be a jerk, true. But he does so the way a reporter does, namely getting angry with bad sources and people who lie to him, because he is trying to report news. Stephen A. is a jerk but almost never has any content to make up for it.

Kennedy? what are you talking about? He's an amateur with no sources. He's just a twitter copycat artist who regurgitates other ppl's news.

So infuriates me that ppl on this board consider him a source and post his tweets. Clutch has more info by 10x than this dude.

You mean, "just watch it on TV live and hide yourself from the internet and all ppl on the internet."

Woj says he gained 60,000 new followers as a result of this draft. I guarantee you next draft if you go watch it live at a sports bar, someone will be yelling out Woj's tweets. I also guarantee you the fans at MSG will be, too. We will never again see a 12-yr old Knicks fan cry to Silver announcing a 7' european.

Hide yourself? Are you strapped up to the internet like Clockwork Orange?

Turn on your TV, get off the internet during the draft. It's really simple.

Some people like to interact with others about the draft while it's going on. Unless you're with a group, the internet is the only way to do that. I could understand if it was actual useful information that was being leaked, but I haven't seen anyone claim that, because it's not.

You can't control other people. If you're afraid of draft spoilers, watch at home and get off the internet. If you want to interact with others, you've chosen to expose yourself to potential spoilers.

You are responsible for your own exposure to spoilers.

No, some people, like me, like to go with a group of friends to Sports Bars and watch. People in the bar were calling out Woj's tweets. That's just bs.

This is only going to get worse. MSG will be calling out Woj's tweets next year, too.

Woj needs to back off this ridiculous, egotistical position of his that news 30 seconds before it is announced is news, or Silver might hunt down his league office source, and shut him out.

I applaud his trade on free agency news, but this is not in the same category of news, yet he claims it is.

Yet, the NFL draft does not have this issue of "spoilers."

Like many of us have said, the spoilers are not that big of a deal. But if someone starts talking out load about Woj tweets at a Sports Bar that I'm at watching the Draft...that becomes really annoying. And this is happening.

The NFL somehow can stop that. So, Woj should stop, too.

That's just dumb. There's only one guy doing this. Everyone should change their behavior because of one guy?

agree. Jake is telling us to change our behavior due to one guy, who doesn't have an NFL draft counterpart doing the same thing.

Jake is trying to say ppl should change their behavior so Woj can gain followers on twitter, when Woj is the one being a dick.

The NFL doesn't have an exact counterpart, but there are definite "spoilers" especially with how slow the draft can go on TV. In this regard, I'd agree with Woj, the draft is just a ceremony, and I don't need to wait for the NFL/ESPN to tell me at their convenience.

Having said that, I can see your point heyp.
