NASCAR driver Adam Petty, the forth-generation driver of NASCAR’s first family of racing, died today after crashing into a wall at the New Hampshire International Speedway this afternoon. He had been taken to the emergency room at Concord Hospital, hospital spokeswoman Jennifer Dearborn confirmed. The 19-year-old driver crashed shortly after noon during a practice run for this afternoon’s qualifying in the Busch Grand National Series. The crash occured shortly after noon during practice for the Busch Series 200 race, set for Saturday. Petty is the son of driver Kyle Petty, a regular on the Winston Cup circuit, and the grandson of the legendary Richard Petty, a seven-time NASCAR champion. Adam’s great-grandfather was Lee Petty, one of the pioneers of NASCAR. ------------------
