Anyone familiar with a bike I'm about to purchase? It's the Specialized, CrossRoads, 19 inch Hybrid bike. I'm using it for 80% road and 20% off road biking. I would be paying 329$ for it. So its apparently a low level bike. Any thoughts or suggestions....I'm thinking of also buying for it bike rack, clip on fenders, pump, and water holder...Anything else I should look at?

That is about mid-priced for a hybrid. Specialized is good. I actually did not know they made a hybrid. If you wanna go a little lower (~250), look at a Trek (go to Bike Barn). Or a little higher (~450), look at Cannondale.

Do not take a hybrid too much off road.
They are nice because if you have to go through a rough part, you do not have to be afraid like on a road bike, but they cannot sustain use on off-road terrains.

Whatever bike you get, the most important thing is to get one with good components. They make a huge difference. Do you know what kind the Specialized has?

I think these are the components you are talking about, but not sure what on earth they mean to me. Hope its all good. I'm basically trusting this bike will be easy to adapt if I want to improve it later on.

Looks good, you should not have any problems.

Don't forget to get a repair kit and one of those multi-tools.

If you plan on riding a lot, a good investment is the men's seat made by Specialized (it looks kind of like a "V"). Trust me, it is worth the 30-40 bucks.

Thanks Rimraud, I'll check into those kits. I think my bike comes with that seat, but I'm not sure. I hope so. Comfort is key.
