Wake me up when the Christian State in Constantinople and Jerusalem starts cutting the heads off infidels, killing their children, raping their women, etc. Or when St. Peter's Army starts bombing buses with Muslims in them or running cards into women carrying babies. Or when the Christian Liberation Front runs through the Capitol building shooting people. Or when an army officer corresponding with a secret Bishop guns down fellow soldiers. Or when Christians for Jesus hunt down Bill Maher and kill him for mocking Jesus. Or when...

Most all stories of violence involving christians have them as the victims, and it's especially sad when they are doing missionary work to revive these places.

An Oklahoma “religious zealot” and heavy drug user nearly decapitated an acquaintance before calling 911 and admitting to the grisly slaying, police said.

Isaiah Marin, 21, ran from the Stillwater apartment Wednesday afternoon before being caught by police, covered in blood and still armed with the large blade, according to an arrest affidavit.

Following a trail of blood, cops found 19-year-old Jacob Crockett dead inside a nearby apartment.

The teen was the son of an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and his “head was mostly severed from his body,” Police Capt. Randy Dickerson told reporters Thursday at a news conference.

Marin had “strong” religious beliefs and was watching videos on YouTube “related to his Christian beliefs and the Book of Matthew” before the murder, according to an affidavit obtained by the Daily News. The documents also alleged that the pair had previous arguments because Marin disagreed with Crockett practicing witchcraft.

 

Why don't moderate Christians denounce this?

 

Exactly.

Nobody EVER claimed that Muslims are the ONLY people in the world who commit atrocities. The difference is in how widespread these things keep happening.

Well, since so called moderate Christians largely make up the government of the United States, the local and state governments throughout the United States and the police forces throughout the United States, I'd say so called moderate Christians do a pretty good job at expressing their displeasure at people committing acts of violence against other people.

 

What are you talking about - they were Christians, they must have got the idea from the Bible. There are parts of the Bible that are ok with violence. Clearly if they are Christians and follow the bible, they must have gotten the idea there.

If the majority of police as well as local, state and federal politicans don't denounce this and make clear they don't share these beliefs, how can we be sure they are moderates at all?

You have every right to be afraid of whatever you want to be afraid of. The thing is, unlike with ISIS, the likelihood that someone just wearing a cross wants to kill you is quite a bit lower.

Honor murders aren't popular among Christians unlike as in other religions.

Last I checked, murder is illegal in majority Christian countries.

Honor killings have been around for about as long as fathers have freaked out about men deflowering their daughters, which is forever. In Europe, you can certainly go back as far as the laws of pater familias which make clear the head of a family can do whatever he wants to his children or wife, including selling them into slavery. There's a long and rich history of if on both sides of the Mediterranean, particularly in Italy, where the clause to limit prison time for murderers to a few years if they uphold the family honor was only repealed in the 1980s.

Islam is certainly used to justify honor killings, but they are common pretty much anywhere where people are ass-backward and uneducated, including sub-saharan Africa, northern India, among religious minorities in the Middle East, and if you include "crimes of passion" certainly much of Latin America. All of those places, though obviously some more than others, have Christian populations that practice honor killings like their neighbors.

Of course murder is illegal in Muslim countries. They like capital punishment almost as much as the Chinese.
