Okafor? Seriously? Pel's working hard on staying irrelevant. Now that's how you waste the talent of your franchise player. I totally see Jrue leaving them in summer.

One team that drafted one too many centers (and now maybe getting a first back in return)
One team that has no idea what the hell it's doing.

Pelicans had Robin Lopez. They traded him for Jeff Withey & Tyreke Evans.

Following offseason, they trade a first round pick for Omer Asik. Compound the mistake by signing him an extension the following offseason.

They drafted Nerlens Noel. They traded him to Philadelphia WITH a first round pick for Jrue Holiday.

And here they are again trading ANOTHER first round pick for ANOTHER center.

Why do bad teams stay bad? ↑ ↑ ↑

I don't know if Okafor feels the same D'Antoni love that Nerlens Not-Gonna-Be-Traded Noel feels, or if it's reciprocated. Certainly Okafor is known for playing butter-soft defense. Still, he has talent, and he's young. You'd think someone would jump in with a better offer than "take our crappy contract or remove the protections from the first rounder".

New Orleans has been engaged on several fronts to land a center, including pursuit of Brooklyn's Brook Lopez, sources @TheVertical. -Woj

Sources: New Orleans has been trying to get a trade package that includes unloading Omer Asik contract. Philly deal wouldn't include him. - Woj

As story states, Pelicans want lottery protection for the 1st rounder that they would give Philly for Jahlil Okafor. - Sam Amick

    Oops!

WOW, excited. Very happy for PHI. Also, I hope Okafor develops; I know he doesn't fit the current NBA well, but he I want to see every young prospect fulfill their potential.

I don't think that's a trade I'd make. If Philly won't do what for Asik or Ajinça? No way. No........way. Not even if they were LeBron. Some things you just don't do.
