The new guy, N Wright is saying that if Morey offers for Asik and Lin cost the Rockets the chance to sign Howard or Bynum, he should be fired.

He is assuming that having the 2 offers lower Rockets offer to Orlando and therefore cost them the chance to get either Centers.

Since the whole off season was gear towards getting a "superstar" and these offers for non-superstars killed the deal, they are calling for Morey's head.

I don't agree because I don't think Morey offered the world for Howard or Bynum. I don't know the actual offer but it clearly did not included taking back 3 bad contracts so as far as cap room, it shouldn't have matter.

I do think Orlando wished they could dump more contracts but I think that simply wasn't offered.

Then the question is should have Morey offered more to get Howard/Bynum if getting a superstar was the stated goal for the off season?

    Your thoughts.

610am has been pilling on the Rockets ever since they left for 790am. It's pretty transparent.

The Rockets discontinued their relationship with 610 as their home for broadcasting their games, and since then they have been trying to stick it to the Rockets by bad mouthing them on the radio non-stop. Even if these guys actually like Morey and the Rockets, they are actually being told to bad mouth the Rockets on air as much as possible.

Preposterous. Howard was unlikely to come here anyway, at least not the way these agents wield their power nowadays.

Ahhh, Nick Wright...the only guy on Houston radio that makes Josh Innes not seem so bad after all...

Those two deals had zero impact on acquiring Dwight. The new host is obviously trolling for attention, so why give it to him?

I'd gladly pay Clutch $100 (assume others would match) to plaster "610 sucks, listen to 790 or 1560" or something like that on the front page - since that's the treatment they're giving the Rockets.

I'd also love the opportunity to hear an on-air conversation between a charismatic and knowledgeable CF member and one of their personalities debating the Rockets. It wouldn't be hard to expose their lack of knowledge regarding the Rockets. The entire lot just doesn't seem to get NBA basketball.

It's a shame the uniformed, average Joe type that can't form their own opinions - they type that listens to 610 - has to be swayed by this crap. Again, I'm fine with bashing Morey or the Rockets, just provide a sensible argument. 610 has failed to back it up time after time.

You know, the new guy is NOT good and Lopez not either. I listen to both 790 and 610 because I am looking for Texans news.

I never listened to 790 until they got the Rockets gig so I am new there. They basically shut down at night because they are all about soccer and I am not interested at all.

That's nonsense. Even if they hadn't signed those two, the rockets shouldn't have taken back a bunch of terrible contracts. It negates the purpose of acquiring Howard in the first place. He's basically saying Morey should be fired for Orlando's terrible/bizarre roster management. Morey shouldn't alter his own valuations to match what may be unrealistic expectations from the other side.

The only thing I have heard Nick Wright get excited about is talking KCRoyals baseball, which makes for some compelling Houston sports radio.

On this, I don't think he is speaking with any conviction. If they had traded for Dwight, he would be calling for Morey's head with the same vigor as now. He is just trying to get a name for himself, and get some attention. Like Josh Innes, he is unprincipled and has flexible ethics. I am not a fan of the direction 610 has taken. This station used to be the gold standard in Houston with John and Lance in the morning, and Rich and Charlie in the afternoon. I miss that era.

610 turned into the Rockets enemy the day they lost broadcast rights.

Could you imagine if Fox Sports Southwest were THIS petty about losing the Rockets' television broadcast rights?

    Neither can I.

And I don't even have a very high opinion of FSSW.

Low class by 610. Low class.

I don't think its a totally unfair line of argument. The Magic GM said specifically that the moves that the Rockets made limited their ability to be a trading partner. And if it was true that the Rockets couldn't versus wouldn't provide the right mix of value to the Magic in return, then it is a huge miss to end up with Jeremar Osin instead of Dwight. Its up to Morey to refute this claim IMO.

610 is garbage. 790 is where it's at.
