According to multiple local news sources a 46 yr old man fell of the roller coaster at the Rodeo. They mentioned something about him landing on a kid? Terrible loss for anyone, but hopefully it's not a Clutchfans-related loss.
Oh, man. I've grown up riding questionable carnival rides but you'd think this day and age things would be pretty safe. Tragic, regardless of the details.
Man, thats terrible, still trying to find out which ride and if anyone else was hurt. I always wondered as a kid, if anyone had died on a carnival ride at the Houston Rodeo. Wish I hadn't found out...
sucks. last day of the rodeo and this happens... can't find a link... google search only brings up this thread.
I saw it on KPRC, they reported it as breaking news just prior to Sports Sunday. I can't find a link either, but a lot of tweets. Fox seems to have reported it as well. I'm guessing they'll have it up once they get a team out there to sort the details.
I saw it on KPRC channel 2 ten o'clock news. It was breaking news and they didn't have many details. Oh, and Daniella must have han the night off.
So was he not strapped in properly? Very scary indeed, makes me rethink riding roller coasters from now on.
Daniella pregnant Anyhow, sad news. Not news you want to hear, not the way you want to end the rodeo.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7483819.html Less than two hours before the gates of the carnival closed for the year, a 46-year-old man took a fatal fall from a roller coaster at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, officials said. "In my 38 years here, there has never been a fatality at the rodeo carnival," said Leroy Shafer, vice president and chief operating officer of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. "We are terribly troubled and concerned by this." The man, whose identity was not released late Sunday, was riding the HiMiler roller coaster between 9 and 10 p.m. when he fell about 28 feet to the ground. He was given CPR by medical teams at the rodeo before being taken to a hospital, where he died. The man hit a person walking by as he fell, Shafer said. That person suffered a broken ankle. It was unclear late Sunday how the man fell out of the roller coaster car. Safety teams have inspected the ride and did not find any problems with it, which at its highest peak is about 53 feet high. "I personally got into the car and found no malfunctions," Shafer said. The rodeo carnival has contracted with Ray Cammack Shows for about 12 years. The company has an excellent safety record, Shafer said. He added that the rodeo also hires its own safety inspection team to inspect the rides before the carnival opens and periodically throughout the three-week event. The case remains under investigation.
So sad... Anyone know what ride? Rode the "Windsurfer" Thursday night and I felt like I was holding on for dear life. Felt like the seat could have held me in tighter, when I was completely upside down, I had to be 3-4 inches off my seat.
Wow! that is scary and horrible. I left the carnival right before nine. On the last day, this is truly tragic.
This is why I also don't get on the rides at the carnival. I don't trust rides that are assembled then disassembled continuously.
Somehow I get the feeling that most carnival accidents are the result of people doing something stupid on the ride. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but when I hear about the equipment being inspected multiple times, and by other parties, and passing tests immediately after an accident, I start thinking, "I bet this guy was climbing out of his seat and being foolish."
