Starting March 1, 2017- you will not get arrested or jailed for 4 ounces or less in Harris County. http://www.thecannabist.co/2017/02/17/houston-mar1juana-possession-misdemeanor/73835/
I wonder how it will work with multiple time offenders under this new policy. Just retake the class each time?
About time they stopped locking people up for dime bags. I hope the rest of Texas follows suit. Now I wont have to be so worried about picking up a QP of the Doja!
i remember austin trying to do something similar a few years ago, though maybe not 4 oz! i think it was struck down b/c part of austin is in williamson county and they said they would not abide...it would have caused too many problems. ive been to amsterdam and i went to colorado last year...colorado was actually more freedom-y than amsterdam and it was great. even the cops get high there!
I cannot condone smoking mar1juana, but I do not think smoking or possessing it should be treated as a criminal matter. It's neither highly addictive nor dependent. Driving under the influence should still be a crime, obviously.
As a California resident who recently got his MMJ card, I am continuously shocked to learn how much the game has changed since 20 years ago when I was consuming dirt weed in Houston. There is just so much to this industry that goes so far beyond "stoners" taking bong rips and laughing while being totally unproductive. One of my favorite things to do these days is take a vape of a good sativa and go run 6-8 miles, feeling as though I could have easily doubled that distance. Just a wonderful, wonderful plant that is finally being brought to its rightful place in the mainstream.
