I get that a lot of people like him and I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I just want to remind you guys that he is 26 years old already, and he is a converted WR, so the flashy "highlight" side of things is already his strength. But if he is going to be anything more than a super-duper Stephen Anderson, he's going to have to grow the other aspects of his TE play.
Normally I would agree with you. The 2tds in a preseason game is cool but really doesn’t mean much as he was going against a lot of 3rd string guys. But with that said it’s still really impressive he did it none the less. But what I do like about this guy is BOB has been talking about him more than he usually does with rookies and he’s been really positive about what he’s seeing. Which leads me to believe that he’s doing really well in training camp.
Tom is in his 40's and Rodgers is in his mid 30's. So no they're old but this dude is only 26. He is young compared to those two. Bad examples bud.
Lol you might be right. Akins was the 3rd round pick so I figured it was him. But Thomas is the big Gronk size TE so maybe your right. But he was the 6th rounder so I figured it was the other Jordan.
The 26 thing shouldn't be a factor at all. At 26 if he's good, he'll have 5+ years of solid football in him easily. Probably more. Which is more than enough to get supreme value out of him. The only relevant thing should be how good he is.
This may not really matter in the modern NFL. In fact, it could be a plus. You get the prime of someone's career on a rookie deal. The NFL is not like the NBA used to be, since the NFL has a hard cap. There's no easy way to lock-in a player for a discount over his career, even though you draft him at 21.
He may be at his physical prime, which is completely different from his nfl prime. Often times it takes rookies 2-3 years to figure things out in pro sports, in which it may all end before it ever begins for him. If he were ever to be cut, most teams will view his age and not even give a second thought to giving him a training camp invite.
