3rd Attempt: GOP/Trump Repeal & Replace ACA and Trump lie about pre-exist coverage

It would be incredibly painful given what's transpired in the last 6 months.

This is probably why Shrub went straight for tax breaks through reconciliation. Build results, earn more credit.

 

Well, in fairness, even if Trump weren't an idiot and had the ability/interest to comprehend the basic policy implications around the ACA and its various would-be replacements - when Majority Leader Turtle is drafting bills in secret and holding votes in the dead of the night 2 hours after introducing them to the floor outside of the normal process - there's not a lot of time to learn the details, even if he were inclined or had the mental acuity to do so.

 

Yes, but that was for the skinny bill. The former bill the AHCA, Trump had plenty of time to read the nuances yet the only thing he got out of the healthcare debate is some odd comment about children paying 12 dollars a year for health insurance.

I think he might be confusing health insurance with life insurance.

It's pretty sad that I actually have to contemplate that notion about our president.

 

My proposal:
-Guarantee the subsidies
-Drop unlimited pediatric dental/vision as an essential health benefit (or give waivers if you can't technically drop it)
-Grant a holiday for the individual mandate for 2017 (because so many thought they'd have it waived)
-Pass the risk corridor to stabilize insurance markets for losses in excess of $75,000 per member in the individual marketplace for the next 2 years
-"Pardon" insurers who left states entirely and give them the ability to come back if they choose under the new rules
-Double HSA contribution limits for people under $250,000 income

Pass all of this with a 2019 sunset provision (meaning January 1, 2020 these rules no longer exist and we revert back to original ACA) as a way to force all sides to spend the next 12-18 months working on permanent solutions.

The markets NEED help right away.

The increase is merely due to the failure of the mandate to enroll more people? So perhaps the fine was not high enough?

I don't understand people saying they can't get insurance because of Obamacare. What insurance did they have before? Seems if they had insurance they were in one of two pools. Those who were kicked off workplace insurance because those companies wanted to save money or those who didn't have insurance or were in super expensive high risk pool insurance. Neither of those are the fault of Obamacare. So what in the hell are these people talking about?

 

By "get" do they mean "afford"?

 

I can't afford health care in my state. I'm in a situation where the premiums are too high for me. But I do make enough to be punished for not carrying health care (barely). The skinny repeal would have relieved me of the burden of the individual mandate. Money I could REALLY use since I make less than half of what I used. In the meantime, I'm living with a loaded gun pointed at my head while I pray nothing healthwise happens to me.

If your family is benefiting from this **** law...congratulations. Just know it's on the back of other americans like myself.

Probably. I sincerely don't want to be, but the current system is what it is. Unless I find meaningful work that provides it through a future employer I'm probably ****ed. It's something I live with every day, not just some random thread in a basketball forum.

If the usual suspects could actually work this hard to fix the holes as they do trying to bring it down, they would truly do great things for the poor and the middle class. Let's face it, middle class are just poor with a great credit score and really high debt. It has nothing to do with Obama or any other democrat.
