8K ain’t cheap https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/11/18220577/samsung-2019-qled-tv-4k-8k-pricing-features-release-date Q900 8K 85-inch: $15,000; 82-inch: $10,000; 75-inch: $7,000; 65-inch: $5,000 Q90R 4K 65-inch: $3,500 Q70R 4K 65-inch: $2,200 Q60R 4K 65-inch $1,800; 55-inch: $1,200
Sony oled and LG oled are rated better than the Qled from Consumer Reports. I’m waiting for the 65 inch Sony Oled to drop in price. Since the 8k will be rolling out.
Don't even think the human eye can discern the difference between 4k and 8k unless extremely close to the screen. Not sure what the point is.
Considering how rapidly TV's nosedive in pricing, I'm not sure why any sane person would spend more than $500 these days, but that's my logic.
Superior black levels for OLEDs yes, but the QLEDs can get much brighter and much larger. QLEDs are still cheaper.
QLED's are almost just a stop-gap technology for Samsung to compete against OLED's. Check out Samsung's micro-LED tech... yes your OLED's are already obsolete. Just kidding... sorta...
Right, but it offers the ability to upscale the screen size without losing fidelity. Getting a 55" 8K is pointless, as is getting a 40" 4K TV. Even then subconsciously, I feel cheated when people throw 1080p resolutions on a 6" smartphone, even though its almost imperceptible compared to 1440p on the same size. Anyways... OLED is the future. Anything else can not compete unless you live in the brightest room of all time and need the higher peak brightness levels of a non-OLED panel.
The manufacturing costs have to be enormous for that compared to typical OLED panels lol. Looks awesome though.
So I bought a Samsung 75 inch 8k QLED. Really like it. But I realized there doesn't currently seem to be a way to actually watch any 8K content? Even though there are a few 8K videos on Youtube and on Vimeo, the Youtube player for Samsung Smart TV only seems to go up to 4k (and the one on Apple TV 4K actually only up to HD). And the Vimeo videos say 8K, but clearly are not - I cannot find a way to check what the actual resolution displayed is. And the HDMI ports on the OneConnect box aren't HDMI 2.1 yet, so I don't think one could transmit 8K there either. Applet TV and Chromecast Ultra only go up to 4k. I guess I can only wait until they at least upgrade the Youtube version for Samsung Smart TV?
Do me a favor and watch GOT season 8 episode 3 “the long night”. Is the beginning of the Dothraki charge still dark with low contrast?
Yeah, that's the main issue currently is even getting content in 8k... Even if a new physical disc (bd 8k comes), I wonder how it'd even fair. Unfortunately everyone has been in this quantity over quality, and streaming while it can do 4k isn't the same bitrate as 4k blu. Just sucks the hardware is there but not the content. Regardless, I'm sure it looks really awesome! So far what have you found works to get 8k content to the TV? I was thinking maybe pc gpu, but have have only attempted 4k
