I don't want to be disconnected from the world for 3+ hours (I'm an addict) or the inconvenience of those things. If I went though I'd definitely leave my phone in the car instead of dealing with that.
Astros have 8 of the roster resource top 100 (6 of the top 50, 16 of the top 200): 1 Alvarez 3 Tucker 13 Rojas 22 Conine 28 Toro 42 Urquidy 61 Beer 72 Javier 104 Garcia 109 Jones (?!) 134 Tanielu (?!) 147 Y Ramirez 164 Paredes 170 Hansen 173 Pena 186 McCormick https://www.rosterresource.com/milb-power-rankings/
It’s almost purely stat analysis, and places emphasis on proximity to majors. Rojas is hitting extremely well in AAA.
Without Trackman data, stats based systems almost have to be place emphasis on proximity to the majors as stats at lower levels don't matter much except in the most extreme cases.
Notably, Brayan de Paula was one of the prospects they got when they sent some IFA money to Miami. They've been pretty good at grabbing complex league pitchers before, so hopefully that continues.
From the “read too much into this” department, Derek Fisher has been placed on the inactive list (41 days before the trade deadline).
I would think that has nothing to do with a trade. If discussions are really far along, they might hold him out of the lineup, but putting him on the inactive list likely means it will be a couple of days, and they had to have flown Dennis in from Iowa, which seems like a drastic step when there is a chance that the deal will fall through.
Just curious, was Dennis's promotion to Round Rock related to Mayfield? As in, they needed an extra infielder? Because he was previously in QC, and his performance wasn't particularly outstanding? I guess it probably is a sign that Mayfield will stick around for a while with the Astros and Correa and Diaz still are a ways off from returning.
I won't pretend to know for sure, but I imagine the ability to play both IF and OF is huge considering that RR is running a 2 man bench, and 4 of the 11 position players are 1B or C. Dennis is a high-contact speedy player, who will probably never have much power, so his skillset should give him survival skills at the higher levels, but he's not really a good enough prospect to worry about messing up his development. Neither Fayetteville nor CC look like they have anyone who can play IF to spare, so he makes sense. I don't think I'd read anything about the major league club into this (other than Fisher probably isn't getting promoted tomorrow) as they sent Dennis to AAA for 2 days earlier in the season, and sent him back down without playing a game.
Joe Perez just hit his first home run as a pro. It's a two-run shot that puts Tri-City on the board tonight in Aberdeen. C.J. Stubbs also hit his first professional homer. He's in left field tonight.
Seth Beer just homered for Corpus. The two-run shot gives him 5 in the Texas League and 14 on the year.
