Andrew Luck is probably ahead of him. Maybe even Big Ben. It's still possible Deshaun makes it after players decide not to play.
CB Kareem Jackson, S Tyrann Mathieu, RB Lamar Miller and QB Deshaun Watson were each selected as alternates.
Players all around the league complaining about not making it. It is what it is, only so many spots and every player that made it is great. There will always be some snubs
SMH... Kareem got hosed.... Doesnt matter. No texans will be playing in that bs game anyways. Will be getting ready for the big dance with the Saints.
I was thinking about it this morning, I think Kareem suffered from what I'm going to dub "the Marwin effect". Marwin was having a career year for the Astros in 2017, but he played like 3 different positions. Baseball All-star voting is done by position, so no one picked him for any certain position. I think Kareem was great at safety but has been playing a lot of CB lately with the injuries, just couldnt stand out at one. I think he should have gone, but I can see why others more entrenched in a specific position were picked above him.
People may not watch but they pay attention to who gets selected. My suggestion is that they should add some skill contest and try to be what the slam dunk contest was for the NBA. They already have the dodgeball and the "best hands" wide receiver contest (I think Landry won last year). Why not get the fastest players to run a sprint to crown "the fastest man in the NFL"? Or some kind of tackling obstacle course for "the best tackler". The players would love a fashion show to crown the "best dressed". Pretty much anything but the actual game LOL.
Yeah, I would rather watch them compete like that instead of watching the meaningless game, especially when some of the best sit out for the SuperBowl. A skills competition after SuperBowl week would be more fun, with punt, pass, kick, lifting, sprinting type skill competitions.
