Seth Beer hitting a home run on a breaking ball low and away for a opposite field home run. Seth is an elite hitter

Getting pretty excited about the group of arms in the DSL “rotation”. Ernesto Jacquez, Heitor Tokar, Jairo Lopez, Franny Cobos, and Jojanse Torres are all doing really well and most of those guys should be stateside next season.

Getting excited about the 2017 drafted pitchers:

    1 (15) -- J.B. Bukauskas, RHP, North Carolina
    2 (56) -- Corbin Martin, RHP, Texas A&M
3 (91) -- Tyler Ivey, RHP, Grayson CC
4 (121) -- Peter Solomon, RHP, Notre Dame
7 (211) -- Parker Mushinski, LHP, Texas Tech
11 -- Brandon Bielak, RHP, Notre Dame

    and that is not counting
    10 (301) -- Kyle Serrano, RHP, Tennessee
who is recovering from "medical conditions".

Agree. A weird thing, but I was pretty stoked to learn Bukauskas was in a car wreck this spring (kidding, knowing he wasn’t seriously hurt). Explains his absence and gives hope he can still get on track and climb the ladder quickly. I have been a little disappointed in Mushinski and Ivey the last month or so, but Martin/Bielak/Solomon have been money.

Coming into the year, I expected Ivey to spend pretty much the full year in davenport, and for Mushinski to be a pure reliever, so they're both stock up imo, even if the performance has lagged a bit lately (Ivey's last start was nice though)

Pitching are so hit and miss and the 2017 draftees I listed have been more hit than miss. We will see.

Patrick Sandoval with another 5 scoreless innings today. More I look at it the more I like my Wandy Rodriguez comp.

I loved that we could sign him. Then I wasn't so sure. Now I remember why I loved that we signed him.

Given where the media experts had Ivey ranked going into the draft (not at all by mlb.com, didn't even have a pre-draft scouting report on him, BA was like 300-something, 90-something ranked RHP in the draft), the Astros scouts did some solid homework on him.

Jaquez with three hits allowed in his last 20.2 IP is just absurd.

Had to look it up. That's now 41 IP over 8 games without an ER, 24 H, OPS allowed somewhere right around .400, 5 BB vs 47 K

Anyone know if Sandoval has a ton of lift on his fastball like Wandy did?

Not sure. Elias has described his FB as “lively”, but not sure what that means. I think of Wandy because he’s a slow developing lefthanded pitching prospect who doesn’t have elite velocity and relies on an elite curveball to get righties out.

You really have to wonder what he's still doing in the DSL. He got a relatively large bonus for an 18 year old ($95,000) He pitched there last year, and he's kind of old for a prospect in that league. Maybe they're kind of hiding him until after the deadline?

Franny Cobos has a 26.4 K%-BB% in the DSL at only 17. Listed at only 5'9" though, hopefully that's old info or he has a growth spurt left in him.

What would the purpose of hiding him be?
