Matt H (Houston): J.B. Bukauskas seems to be stuttering. She we be concerned? Ben Badler: Based on the feedback we've had from scouts who've seen him this year, yes. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/top-mlb-prospects-host-sheet-chat-52218/
Hector Perez @ Winston-Salem: 5 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, 4 K The one run came on a solo homer. Osvaldo Duarte is 3-4 with three runs scored and four stolen bases; one was a steal of home.
Maybe try and sell high on him while we can? Bukauskas plus another mid-level guy or two fro Brad Hand (my #1 trade target)?
They wouldn’t be selling high, because mlb clubs have the same info as the scouts BA is talking to. Best hope is he develops. “Selling high” would mean trading Yordan Alvarez, Corbin Martin, and Cionel Perez.
Duarte is an interesting player. Speed, defense, decent power for a little guy. Bb/k rates don’t predict a successful big leaguer but tools are there. He’s been hot the last couple weeks.
After striking out a career-high 11 over 6.1 shutout innings in his last start, Ryan Hartman turned a bare minimum quality start (6 IP, 3 ER), allowing six hits (solo HR allowed), walking one, and striking out seven. Corpus busted out with six runs in the 5th to take a 7-3 lead in Springfield. Lorenzo Quintana is currently 2-3 with a solo homer and two RBI.
Here's the article on Whitley from Kaplan. Sounds like he'll be back in Corpus in a couple weeks. Just now getting him ramped back up since he was recovering from a slight lat strain.
Kyle Tucker hit a two-run homer (5) that accounted for all of Fresno's scoring in a 5-2 loss to Reno today.
Those homers came in game two of a doubleheader. Toro now has seven homers, 30 RBI, and is slashing .265/.383/.469 on the season. Matijevic now has six home runs and 13 RBI between both Class A teams and he's slashing .343/.398/.696 in 26 games.
