? Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory under the sovereign USA. By definition, PR winning would be an American victory. All people born in the US are native-borne Americans.
Curacao players play for the Netherlands, while Puerto Rico has a separate team. The obvious difference is both the US & PR have more MLB-caliber talent than the Netherlands and their territories combined and they are basically looking for any teams to compete with Japan, US, & DR which are the top talent areas. This is basically the best outcome we could want as American Astros fans. 4 of our guys are playing in the game, and our home country.

Sorry but when Correa and Beltran put on an Astros jersey i cheer loudly for them but tonight they arent wearing the blue and orange.. Puerto Rico is a part of the USA to the same extent that Dallas is a part of Texas. If we're talking about technicalities...okay. But everyone with a real dose of common sense knows that the two are separate. You cannot convince me otherwise.
I rooteded for Yao against team USA. It justed felt right. We'll see how my emotions flyed once the game starts.

I think some of Kinsler's response was based on the things Adam Jones touched on after the game. Apparently PR Started planning and scheduling their celebration and championship parade on Tuesday before the US had even played Japan. That did not sit well with the US players.
