This is evidence IMO that the Watson hype is getting a bit out of control. If they were really going to start him from day one, or even very early in the season, he'd be getting more of those 1st team reps.

 

to be fair, right after the texans drafted watson, BOB said Savage was going to be the starter

 

Oh I'm not blaming BOB on this one, the talk about Watson starting incredibly soon or even immediately comes from the fans and the media. Nothing the organization has done would lead anyone to that conclusion.

That's something that I think a lot of people failed to understand when some were projecting Mancz to start at center for the Texans this season. Martin's talent is other worldly. He could very easily end up the best O lineman for the Texans this season...even after Duane Brown comes back.

 

Not only that, but people are sleeping on how a center establishes the tone for the entire line. A good center is a great anchor for the whole line.

If it wasn't for injury it would have been that way around mid-season too.

Kevin Johnson will be our #1 corner this season (barring injury).

 

Well, yeah... it's not like he hasn't earned it. It's not our money and he is elite. He'd get it here or somewhere else, that's a guarantee.

 

The Texans have been clear on this since the beginning. They like Jackson as the Nickleback, and his potential at safety. They have seen Johnson as an outside corner from the start. That is the reasoning for him being in the RCB 2nd string, which is where your Nickle is slotted.
