Nah... I feel confident Russ won't get it just seeing a lot of the non Sportscenter coverage of him... You'll feel even more confident after 2Moro.

Which is idiotic. They say if Westbrook gets triple double then no matter what Harden does they don't care. Probably 50/20/9.9 + a lot more wins won't change their stupid mind. So hang up on arbitrary numbers

Chris Broussard is a dumbass, but at the end of the day, Harden is still gonna be 2nd on his ballot if he goes with Westbrook. Most people who are enamored with stats will still have Harden top 2 in the MVP race because Harden's stats are just as impressive as Westbrook's even tho he's not averaging a triple double. However, those who value winning will have Harden top 2 as well while putting Westbrook 3rd or 4th. If enough people value winning then Westbrook can't win this thing. Harden should be in the top 2 on most people's ballots while Westbrook should be getting a decent amount of 3rd and 4th place finishes. This is how Harden will end up winning.

Basically Harden is the best overall candidate if you consider both personal stats AND team records.

Archibald's record is 4539 points generated.

Harden is at 4501 going into tonight.

Let's not forget that David Aldridge just gave a 3 minute speech in the last Rockets game on TNT stating that in his opinion, Westbrook's triple double nullifies anything else.
He's also the better candidate than Westbrook on either criteria alone. I would argue that having the best season of all-time in points produced is better than averaging a triple double, because that means Harden still had more points + assists, but just less random rebounds.

If harden doesn't win , this will be one of those things that people look at 15 years from now and just shake their heads.

Once advanced stats are better understood by the laypeople they will fully understand how great James has been .

In fact it doesn't take a knowledge of stats , but just watching the game to see how much better James makes his teamates .

Harden being left off of the all-NBA team last year was probably the worst media-bias-driven thing I've ever seen. Even losing out on the MVP this year can't touch that, in my opinion.

So he'd need a mix of 2-pt and 3-pt assists for tonight's game. About like 15 assists? Also, I am hoping he'll get a 20 assist game tonight.

    Not really.

He'd just need a 20/10 game. He's 38 points behind. 20 points plus 10 two point assists for another 20 points is 40 and gives him the record.

No one ever mention that Harden leads the league in double-doubles. :) Westbrook has 42 TDs and 20 DDs while Harden has 21 TDs and 42 DDs.

20 points and 9 assists would do it.

And of those assists are on 3's and the number goes down.

But what's really amazing is how close Westbrook is to those numbers. Historic season to almost reach that milestone while averaging a triple double.

And there is the record. Congrats James Harden for being responsible for the most points in a single NBA regular season

Deserves its own thread. I'm as serious as a Triple Double.

So after that accomplishment by Harden, ESPN has Westbrook's 5-5-8 game as its second top story. OK then
