2013 Fantasy Baseball League (3 MLB Teams Per Owner): Season 2

It is almost time for fantasy baseball season once again. Last year I hosted a unique league on Yahoo which was fairly successful, so let's do it again this year!

Here's how it works... Basically, the league has 10 teams, and instead of drafting players, each owner drafts 3 MLB teams. 30 MLB teams / 10 owners = 3 MLB teams per owner.

You get all the players on the 3 teams you end up drafting and use those players to make up your lineup. There is no trading. You can add/drop free agents, but you can ONLY pick up players who are on one of the 3 teams you drafted (I will police this manually).

So, say you end up drafting the Yankees, Dodgers and Pirates... then your roster will be comprised of these players only for the whole year. The challenge comes with picking 3 MLB teams that fit well together.

It will be a three round draft. The first two rounds will be regular serpentine style, but the third round will be randomized.

The scoring system is fantasy points head-to-head, similar to fantasy football scoring. Starting lineups and other details are listed below. Since there is no trading and because lineups are set weekly (not daily), this will be a relatively low-maintenance league.

Also, to preemptively answer one question that was posed last year:

Q. If a real life player gets traded to another MLB team during the season, does the owner of that player in our fantasy league have to trade him away to the manager of the corresponding team?
A. No. If a player gets traded to another real life team, the fantasy owner does not have to give up that player. However, if at any point the owner waives that player from his team during the season, he is not allowed to pick him up again.

I.e.) Albert Pujols gets traded from the Angels to the Yankees. The Angels fantasy owner keeps Pujols and does not have to trade him to the Yankees fantasy owner. However, if for some dumb reason the Angels owner waives Pujols after the trade, then he is not allowed to pick him up again. The Yankees owner now has the right to add Pujols to his team. This situation will probably never happen, but that's how it will be dealt with if it ever comes up.

It will actually be $7.40 each to renew the site this year, not six bucks as I originally mentioned. But that's a small price to pay for the prestige.
