Especially if you take a look at other PG options that hit the FA market and are on the same level. It's not that the whole league has their eyes on Lowry as the #1 guy after Deron...

You guys that think we should get something better than the #6 pick for Lowry…what are you expecting?

Sure we WANT Lowry to be the headliner in a package for a bona fide star, but if it doesn’t happen this summer are you ok with holding onto Lowry and just kissing Dragic goodbye?

If #6 for Lowry is the best thing offered, I’d personally take it and run. #6 + Dragic > just Lowry

if they are truly intent on not to waste Alrdidge's prime, Lowry + 16 makes a lot more sense than crossing your fingers and hoping one of the guys you listed pans out. Lowry is a known commodity.

Drummond does concern me, but at 5 or 6 I'd want to roll the dice on him.

Anthony Davis is a #1 lock, then most think MKG, Drummond, Beal and Thomas Robinson are picks 2-5 in some order (though things can change in 3-4 weeks). That leaves the question marks starting at 6. I don't really have a guy I got to have at 6, but I'm going to guess the Rockets' thorough evaluation process will turn up someone they will want... someone they would favor over Lowry (but again, I'm guessing).

Edit: Should add that one guy I kind of like is John Henson of North Carolina. Not saying he's your 6th pick, but he's interesting to me. I will be curious to see how he checks out in workouts and how he stacks up in the true height, wingspan, vertical department.

Well said. I'd rather have Dragic, even though his price tag will be higher, and a guy with high risk high reward potential than just Lowry by himself.

Tough to say... I wish we all knew what Daryl and company know about what our guys are worth. If we did know I'm confident there would be a new level of scorn in that we would be stunned to find out what trades the Rockets did NOT accept in the past that we never heard of.

Still, I tend to lean towards the "make sure it would satisfy the other team" side in making random proposals. I have a hard time thinking Portland would trade 6 and 11 for Lowry and 14, but perhaps I undervalue Kyle. I'm sure Daryl places a premium on him (and all his players).

Wouldn't hesitate at all to do your proposal though.

Dont want the number 2 pick. Too ambitious for Morey. I am only hoping he finds enough brain power to just get the 6th or 8th pick which both seem very gettable right now and appears Rockets have what it might take to get them. I am completely content with 3 draft picks and one of them being in the top 10. Even having two draft picks and one in the top 10 would be real nice.

Don't know if there are any have-to-haves in this draft after Unibrow.

If we could get the #6, I don't know if Morey/McHale would land That Most Excellent Player on their draft board. (No white guys rank that high in this draft. HA-HA-HA! HA-HA-HA! Ahem. Uh, nothing? Not even a giggle? Really? Moving on.)

I'd think the ideas would be to:

    a) Pave the way to re-sign Goran with the idea he's the starter
    b) Get a solid young contributor for the future
    c) Free cap space

Which is why Toronto makes so much sense, too. Hell, they can absorb Lowry's contract now, pre-draft. Straight-up for the #8 pick?

If you are capable of getting Lillard for that package and still have the other two picks to select a big and a SG, all that Howard and Deron talk would disappear. Depending on who else you pick to go with Lillard.

Trades will open all of this up. More than likely, Bud will be going in a trade as well.
If the 09ers were up too par, they all would have played. We still needed them to play last season. Thabeet=garbage(still confused about this guy) Flynn=didn't recover quick enough, but he will be back, Williams=bad attitude. Despite all of that, we still needed them. Just like we would be able to play the rookies next season. Carl is right. Why fill out the roster with D-league scrubs instead of quality 1st rounders?

I honesty think getting the Kings picks is more of a possibility than the Blazers. Blazers want to get more young studs to build around Aldridge with especially since they flat out tanked after the trade deadline so they wouldn't be a first round exit team. I think they will be more likely to keep that pick or even try to move up. Their high cap space also allows them to possibly sign talent as well.
If you were a Blazer fan what you want: Lowry and a mid-round pick or possibly Dragic (or other FA pgs) and the #6 pick? The latter of course especially knowing that Lowry may still be an option when the other plan possibly fails.

Trading Lowry and Patterson to the Kings might net us the #5 pick because their still young enough to improve slightly and also are what they need to get that young team from being a bottom feeder.

If agents say NO to Sac with recent trading history then that becomes more of a no brainer IMO.

If agents say NO to Bobs then what would MJ do?

Who are the beloveds of the teams drafting? That is the unanswerable question for the next weeks.

I don't agree with that at all. Lowry is GOOD. Like, legitmately good. I think he could be the 2nd best, at worst 3rd best player on a championship caliber team. The 6 pick has maybe a 20-30% chance of being that good. Sure, they may also have a 5% chance of being a 1st best player on a great team, but the odds aren't exactly in your favor.

(all percentages given highly scientific. I spent at least 30 seconds calculating them)

But Morey won't screw up by losing Dragic, especially after Lowry dumped in his own oatmeal.

Totally agree on Henson. No idea why people don't like him more. Tall, crazy athletic, averaged 10 boards and 3.2 blocks a game while playing top competition and next to another capable big (Zeller). Sure he needs some weight, but that's an easier problem to fix than athleticism, height, or general bball skill...

And that's where we disagree, I think Lowry had a fluke season for a mediocre team and wouldn't be a big guy for a contender. Plus he has the wrong mindset and his bodyfat% seems too high.

The problem with that argument is that he has shown relatively consistent improvement over the course of his career. When he was starting, he had the best +/- on the Rockets (who had a pretty decent record when he went down), is an elite rebounder at the point guard position, is an above average defender and playmaker, and he can score some.

Now he played like crap after he came back from injury, and he probably should have handled the McHale thing better, but I would have been pissed too if I had come back from injury and been told I need to "earn" my playing time back after single handedly carrying the team the first half of the season.

Trades like that could be announced sooner than draft night but teams typically wait to ensure their player is available or to make sure a player they really want does not slip.
