They needed a guy since Jordan Scott was deactivated. Jay Austin was released, today is a GCL off day, so Hernandez made sense. He'll be in short-season ball next year.

Tri-City torches Michael Ynoa, who once commanded the largest bonus for a Dominican amateur in MLB history. They blasted him for 8 runs in 1 1/3 innings, and are currently dominating Vermont 8-0 in the 3rd.

Ynoa is Rule V eligible this year; I think Oakland will have to think long and hard on keeping a guy who's 4 years past signing and struggling in his first look outside complex ball.

Ynoa might be a decent guy to take a flier on a 40 man spot. Most scouting reports say he's still got the fluid delivery going on. The only problem is there's no definitive outlook on him right now.

Asher Wojciechowski vs. San Antonio: 6 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 4 K; Hooks lead 2-0 with Josh Zeid coming on to pitch. Zeid promptly gave up a homer to lead off the top of the 7th.

Greeneville was sadly eliminated with a 3-2 loss to Bluefield. Johnson City's 15-7 win over Danville knocked the Appy Astros out of playoff contention.

Domingo Santana just hit his 19th homer for Lancaster to give them a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 3rd. Nick Tropeano is tonight's starter.

Asher's down to a 2.33 era in 7 double-A starts. Really impressive considering he had a 3.57 era in HiA Florida State League (a notable pitchers league).

His peripherals are solid (but unexciting) at 7.0 k/9 and a 2:1 K:BB rate. I'd have been happy if he was the best prospect we got in the Jays trade but considering he's probably got the lowest upside out of Musgrove/Comer/Perez, that deal is looking better and better. He's a top 5 organizational pitching prospect right now.

Bobby Borchering just got the heave-ho after fanning to end the 8th. Hooks lead 2-1 heading into the 9th

Carlos Quevedo just bailed out Chia-Jen Lo by striking out Lake Elsinore's Donavan Tate (the #3 overall pick in 2009) with the bases loaded to end the top of the 7th. He preserved a 7-3 Lancaster lead.

Haven't seen a response, so just wanted to thank you for the information. It's always nice to get first-hand reports (I, myself, enjoyed seeing prospects in Roundrock when that was still an option!).

Unlike MLB games, when we are talking the farm system, most, if not all of us, are basing our observations/opinions on other second-hand Internet summaries. Experts are crowned, and observations/opinions are often made, from reading other peoples scouting reports...and, as a corollary, often never even seeing a majority of the prospects in action. So, being as though you are there in the midst of things, keep on chiming in when you've got the latest.

Doubtful, unless they just want to give those guys some extra work, though I'm not sure how minor league affiliates and their playoffs work. Pretty sure they are done with player movement.

    OKC defeated Iowa 4-3

Rudy Owens got his 1st win as a member of the Astros organization by going 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and striking out 3. Aneury Rodriguez and Chuckie Fick both had 1-2-3 innings. Jose Valdez gave up an RBI single to Adrian Cardenas, but was able to right the ship and close the door for the save, his 19th. Jimmy Paredes went 2-4 with an RBI double in the 3rd and a solo homer in the 8th, his 13th of the season. Crash Hessman also added a solo homer in the 4th, his 31st. Jose Martinez had an RBI single in the 7th.

    Corpus defeated San Antonio 2-1

This was the Hooks' 77th win of the season, breaking the franchise record set in 2006, when they won the Texas League. The Hooks got a great start from Asher Wojciechowski, who shut out the Missions for 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, walking 2, and striking out 4. All 2 runs came in the 3rd, on an Andy Simunic sac fly and a Chris Wallace RBI single. Austin Wates went 3-4 with 2 steals (16). Josh Zeid, in his 1st appearance since coming off the DL, served up a solo shot to Cody Decker to lead off the 7th. That was the only run for San Antonio, and Zeid also threw a spotless 8th. Arcenio Leon got the save in Jason Stoffel's stead, working around a 1-out Decker single to strike out Jake Blackwood and Jeudy Valdez to end the game.

    Lancaster beat Lake Elsinore 7-4

Jethawks get some much-needed breathing room from the Storm in the race for the wild-card spot in the Cali League's South division. Today is Nick Tropeano's 22nd birthday. Yesterday, he got the start for the Jethawks and went 5 innings, allowed 3 runs on 7 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 4. He got the victory. Domingo Santana hit a solo homer, his 19th. He also had an RBI force out in the 1st. Jonathan Meyer went 3-5 with 2 doubles, one of which scored 2. Jio Mier had an RBI single. Chia-Jen Lo allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2 in 1 2/3 innings of relief. He left with the bases loaded in the 7th, and Carlos Quevedo ended the threat by striking out Donavan Tate. Quevedo would end up running into trouble himself by allowing 2 straight 1-out doubles in the 9th, which resulted in Kenny Long being called upon. Long ended that threat, and the game, by striking out Rico Noel and Cory Spangenberg.

    Lexington lost to Charleston 5-4

11 straight losses for the Legends. Chris Devenski was all over the place but managed to tightrope across 5 innings, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits. He walked 6 and struck out 5. Teoscar Hernandez, in his first at-bat for the Legends, hit a 2-run homer in the 2nd, after Nolan Fontana doubled. One batter later, Justin Gominsky went deep for his 2nd of the season. Matt Duffy went 2-4 with an RBI single. Evan Grills blew it by allowing the Riverdogs to take a 4-3 lead in the 6th. Nathan Pettus took the loss by allowing the go-ahead RBI single to Dante Bichette in the 9th. That was the only run he allowed in 3 innings of relief.

    Tri-City beat Vermont 9-4

Typical... ValleyCats staked Brady Rodgers to an 8-0 lead (blasting Michael Ynoa in the process) after 2 innings and were never seriously threatened.

All 9 ValleyCats runs were driven in. Joe Sclafani, Catfish Elkins, Preston Tucker, and Jesse Wierzbicki each drove in 1. Dan Gulbransen had a bases-clearing double. M.P. Cokinos had a solo homer (3) to lead off the 2nd and had a sac fly in the 6th. Rodgers went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Euris Quezada allowed an unearned run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5 in 3 innings of relief. Scott Zuloaga allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 in the 9th.

    Greeneville lost to Bluefield 3-2

With this loss, and Johnson City's win over Danville, the Appy Astros were eliminated from playoff contention. Ariel Ovando doubled and had an RBI force out in the 7th. The River made it 3-2 with a 1-out RBI single, but Terrell Joyce struck out, and Ovando grounded out to end it. Mike Martinez went 2-3 with a double. Carlos Correa struck out in his only at-bat before being lifted for Jose Fernandez. (Let the speculation begin.) Frederick Tiburcio went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 5. Erick Gonzalez, in his Greeneville debut, threw 2 perfect innings, striking out 1. Mike Hauschild struck out the side in order in the top of the 9th.

    San Antonio = San Diego
    Corpus Christi = Houston

In Double-A and Triple-A, when two teams affiliated with NL clubs play each other, pitchers bat.

You're right, I was thinking of Little League. I am attempting to embrace our new softball overlords.
