Initial reaction is over . . . Now let's assess what we have and where to from here. . . . Let's look at the Playoff Roster as of 12/23/2018 Guards PG: CP3 - Harden - Rivers SG: Harden - Ego - Rivers SF: Ego - Green - House PF: Tucker - House - Clark C: Capela - NeNe - Hartenstein Where does ENNIS , MCW, Knight and Chriss fit? This is not a HORRIBLE Roster Now let's look at the potential changes ENNIS , MCW, Knight and Chriss are tradeable assests Matches with Picks or one of those above . . . Where can we improve? How? Who is out there that is 'getable'? Rocket River
Forward depth still looks a bit weak. I've long advocated for us to get James Johnson. Can play the 3-5, great defensive versatility, can handle and dish the rock, and he is an absolute DOG. Absolutely a guy you want fighting with you in the trenches. Reason he'd be available is his onerous contract ($45 MM over the next 3 years) Miami is a mediocre team that is $6 MM in the luxury tax. The following move would lower their immediate AND long-term salary obligations meaningfully. Houston would get two rotation pieces.Johnson is a great fit, as I outlined above, and Ellington is a sharpshooter that gives us guard depth/ Sacramento uses its cap space to get a 2nd round pick MIA: Out - Johnson and Ellington; In - Knight HOU: Out - Knight, MCW, Melo, 2020 2nd; In: Johnson and Ellington SAC: Out - None; In - MCW, Melo http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybu4putw
https://bit.ly/2QMAVvK Something like this is really what the rockets need. Lakers are not getting AD this year, and Melo is out there, and could help them now. Lebron has ask team exec, he wants melo to come play in LA, and is ready for them to make the move. Rockets could use Holiday and Side Show bob, now that they signed Rivers. It would be a nice little team, once paul gets back. Chicago Bulls Receive: Marquese Chriss, Brandon Knight, Ivica Zubac, 2019 first-round pick (lottery-protected, via Houston) Houston Rockets Receive: Justin Holiday, Robin Lopez Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Carmelo Anthony
It is pretty bad, lots of unproven players, injured ones and just guys who do not fit the system. It’s a serious cluster****...I am psyched how little I care since last year’s play-offs and hope you guys can let it go. Rockets are not winning jack this year or foreseeable future.
This is a 45-50 wins team. The asking price to take Knight contract will be sky high. Knight can only deal for expiring contracts. It has to be a deal like this, Gordon for rookie contract. Any deal will be the same as Lakers: Not taking any future salary.
I am hoping that Austin can be a Shroeder like signing Good Backup Not expecting the greatest Rocket River
The Anderson trade has so far looked awful. Anderson would have been serviceable in the regular season with how far he spread the floor. Melton might have been able to contribute a little too. Chriss will struggle to make a roster after his rookie contract expires and Knight hasn’t been useful as a player nor a chip...
If there is a way to an impact defender on this squad, we need one on this squad. I would give up a first for MGK....maybe, idk. But i do want him on this team.
If Clark and Hartenstein will make your playoff roster, you may as well just forfeit the playoff. Ennis is still way better than Clark and should be ahead of House. And Morey must at least sign or trade for an roster contributor before the playoffs.
I would have liked us to pick up Korver Austin is an improvement on MCW and Knight at this point I would almost say significantly better Minutes Distribution at the guard spot - 96 minutes PG: CP3 - 25~30 - Harden 15~20 Rivers 5~10 SG: Harden 15~20 EGo - 15~20 Green 10~15 SF: Ego 15~20 House 15~20 Ennis 15~20 Rocket River
What kind of position are you in when signing a player cut by the Suns is a significant improvement over your number one add in free agency and the only player of note that you traded for?
Too early. Its not clear to a number of teams that they pretty much have no chance of making the playoffs so they are going to be more risk averse in entertaining trades, and the ones who are at the bottom have too many teams wanting to trade with them (Cavs). Closer we get to the trade deadline, I think we'll see the Hawks, Bulls, Wizards, Magic, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Mavs, Grizzlies, and even Lakers open up a lot which should make it easier to maneuver something. Hopefully the team is thinking beyond just trying to dump Knight, which is what all the rumors/reports suggest is the sole concern of the FO.
8th seed, 1st round exit... for the next 3 years. Going to waste Harden's prime completely with this squad. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Harden demands to be traded next couple years once he's realized we're going nowhere with CP3's heavy decline.
Going forward: Strap in and enjoy the show, we wont see this brillance again in quite some time. Harden and scrubs vs the League part 3: The Beard strikes back.
