Noah Vonleh 7'4" wingspan, former 9th overall pick in 2014, only 24 (25 by next season) https://www.nbadraft.net/players/noah-vonleh/ https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/v/vonleno01.html Need to watch how he plays with Denver in the bubble
not only will we not spend the MLE but we will have to cut guaranteed salary to avoid the tax. but lets say the rockets find a way to get below the tax enough to use the MLE. that would mean offloading ego's entire contract. and with almost no teams under the cap it would take a Westbrook amount of picks to offload his whole contract without taking anything back. forget the MLE. we will be signing the vet min specials all day. lets just hope we can resign our actual bench for vet mins: rivers, mclemore, nwaba, carroll, and green could all go for more than the minimum. look at the FA pool, these guys are the best vet mins you could ask for. they're the realistic wish list for the offseason. no other vet min PG can switch everything on D like rivers. mclemore is the best shooting vet min guard. nwaba is the best vet min wing defender. green and carroll are the best fits at small ball 4/5, any other big who plays like them will want the MLE. I honestly don't see any other FA we could sign for the vet min better than any of these 5. bring them back.
We need long 4s that can play the 5 and ideally hit 3s, to add another option next to Jeff Green that can backup RoCo and PJ. Some names: Wood, Giles, Grant, Saric, Ibaka, Milsap Of the above, I'd guess only Giles and Saric would be within our price range, and even that assumes we use MLE.
*Prediction Rockets signs Andre Roberson on 1 and 1 team option. Clutchfans praises Morey. Everybody believes we become title favorites. Andre isn’t the same player. A segment of Clutchfans has had enough of Morey’s gambles. A segment of Clutchfans defend Morey by adding Tilman is broke jokes. and Eric Gordon still isn’t happy.
I hope we pick up the two 40 year olds. Gasol and Crawford. I know we have done away with centers but Pau brings high BB IQ, length, and veteran leadership into the playoffs and JC can still ball out.
Dude at one point our team was Lin , Parsons , Asik , delfino , and harden . white dudes are undervalued. DM loves value
I would add Chris Boucher (TOR) to that list, but he is a RFA. I don't think TOR will let him get away.... but you never know. I also like Nerlens Noel (OKC) no steady 3pointer; back to OKC on Bird rights? Vonleh (DEN) becoming my ideal Morey find (cheap, but SUPER effective); has improved as a passer (check his asst %) Henson (DET) no steady 3pointer; back to DET on Bird rights? O’Quinn (PHI) really suspect 3pointer, but solid defender Cauley-Stein (DAL) player option and may be looking for a HUGE pay day (baby due soon and opted out of bubble play)
Rivers signed for the vet min to get a 2nd year. CLEARLY the plan was to get his "Early Bird Rights" with that 2nd year so they could offer something likely in the 5-7M range. BUT....now we have #Tilman. So who knows. Thanks @Nook for confirming what we suspected.
If you look at the players Morey targets... it does seem to fit an MO / pattern (and he likes lefties as well)
Long wingspans make up for lack of height. But the 2 guys I am advocating for have the skills (shooting, passing, dribbling, lateral agility, etc.) that Morey & MDA covet IN ADDITION to length and height.
I like every Big on this list except for Whiteside. https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/w...rgets-these-10-big-men-could-fit-dubs#slide-7 No Jerami Grant on wishlist?
Millsap, Harkless or Marvin Williams. https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/w...ts-these-nine-forwards-could-fit-dubs#slide-4 Bolden or Bender are cheaper options.
why do we need these more wings? even if MDA stay and we remain our "small ball" style next season, why not try to improve in the off-season when you have a chance? Why not improve our length/rebound/rim protection/post defense while retain the 3pt shooting/and spacing. why is short player the only option for 3pt shooting and spacing? (especially Crowder not even that good a shooter). there's quite a few big man in the league who can shoot as good as these 3 swingmen while providing more length/rebound/rem protection/post defense. best S&T candidate: Serge Ibaka best trade target: Larry Nance Jr. best MLE candidate: Markieff Morris Both trade and/or S&T will require Eric Gordon and picks Ibaka will probably seeking similar contract as Gordon's, so either give Gordon's money to Ibaka or trade Gordon for Nance Jr. ($12mil.) to save on the payroll. Ibaka is a better shooter while Nance Jr. better at passing/fast break, both can stretch the floor and guard multiple positions. use all or part of the MLE on Morris as back up. use the rest to re-sign Jeff Green, we can be match up well with any teams in the league Ibaka, Morris Tucker, Green RoCo, House, Carroll Harden, McLemore, Nwaba Westbrook, Rivers, Clemons much better than adding another swingman
