That's the most ridiculous thing Zach ever wrote. Ross is not getting more than 5. He is probably the worst starting SF in the league. He didn't develop at all during 3 years

Then how come Aron Baynes can get a 7 mils per contract?

And how many NBA agents will dare to tell their clients : "Well I think Aron Baynes is a better player than you, so if you are offered with an extension of 8 mils per, you should take it in a heartbeat."

I miss the days when that kind of money was reserved for franchise level players.

If I remember correctly, Daryl Morey along with a good handful of NBA scouts were reportedly very high on Terrence Ross.

Also, situation and fit play an important role in the development of a player.

Demarre Carroll was used as an example of a player with a limited track record, yet got paid once he was able to develop and show what he can do when the fit and situation are in harmony. In Demarre's case, coaching likely played an important role as well. We'll see if Coach Casey can duplicate the success of Coach Budenholzer in that respect.

It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for the same to happen to Ross and even Jones.

15 million for a 6'10 so call POWER forward who rebounds like a 5'10. Yeah good luck with that

It's speculative, sure. But Lowe backed up the speculation with logical reasons. He talks about the contracts that were handed out this off season and uses them as a basis of comparison. So it's at least some pretty sound speculation.

Keep looking. Try learning how to grab a rebound and hitting midrange shots.

This is basically the camp I'm in. It's important to keep a constant influx of cheap/young players, and not overinvest into average or even above average players.

I would do what you suggest...sign Montrezl to a 4 year deal using the MLE (even if it hard caps us), keep one of DMo/TJones and trade the other.

Someone proposed "resetting the timeline" for either TJones or DMo, i.e. trade one of them for a younger PF that has 2 or more years left on their rookie deal. I like that idea, but it will be difficult to get another team to bite. I could see the following as options:

    Kelly Olynyk
    Cody Zeller
    Adreian Payne
    Furkan Aldemir

Article could mean Canadian dollars. It doesn't really specify.

This is amazing. A guy who gets benched in the playoffs 2 years in a row is going to get $15 million a year? The guy hasn't proven he'll ever be a legitimate NBA starter.

Zach Lowe is clearly absolutely clueless as to his assessment of the Rockets. Jones is garbage
