Think of that as more of my amateur scouting analysis, seeing Nick Johnson for the player he will be down the road as opposed to where he is now. It's hard to predict these things but I do see Nick making significant improvement.
Lawson is 27 not 21 or a "young man" anymore he should know better. I can't believe you're trying to make up an excuse for Lawson.
Some pitiful self-gloss if you ask me. The post that you just read is one of the greatest of all time....
WTF is going on in this thread? I'm lost. Did the OP really write this, or did he just forget to include the link to another horrifically written Ric Bucher article? But really, the lame finger-wagging has to stop.
According to Basketball-Reference, Ty Lawson's last shot was a missed 2 pointer from 3ft that was blocked by Klay Thompson: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/pbp/201504150GSW.html
It's clear he has an alcoholic issue and needs help. We should care more about that, than what he can do to help us from a basketball standpoint. He has the John Lucas program that has turned around a many professional players and realizing this is his last shot, so there is hope.
Ironically, when you are addicted, as he has proven in his actions that he is, you are not choosing anything. The disease more or less decides for you. "First you take a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes you." F. Scott Fitzgerald. And that's how it works. The treatment will either work or it won't. And then it's just a question of if he needs lifelong treatment. So I don't care so much if he wants to be in treatment or not, the key is that he is getting it, because if it works, then he can finally make choices that are truly his. If the brain has changed due to the drug, then it will continue to seek alcohol and the decision part of the brain can't make the correct decision either.
