It's not that, I just don't see how he's an upgrade at PG over Bev and I have a problem spending that much on a backup.
No one has NBA-style stats in the euroleauge. Not even pau and marc had them before coming over and they are 100% scrubs hey. Not to mention beverly have been third string on that real madrid team. Also your -7/+19 stuff up was hilarious.
I did the count on the fly and got the wrong number at first....it's not like you'd even have known if I didn't correct myself. Anyway, feel free to think he's going to come over and set the world on fire if that's what you want to believe.
I can't see for sure that he's going to be a compatible starter on this team, and I also can't see him leaving the best non-NBA team in the world where he is the MVP to join a team where he's not guaranteed a starter spot and not paid handsomely and will be a spot up shooter for many if not most of his minutes. He's a very good player but I think things are not working out right now. I can see him being traded - lots of teams could use a ball dominant hybrid best player in the Euro league. #18 + #32 + rights to Lull + K-Pap + Jones is a fantastic package right now and we basically don't lose any of the core rotation from last regular season. Would the Celtics not be all over that? Denver? Detroit? Maybe Toronto? Utah? Phoenix? Indiana? That's a lot of good young assets, and not a lot of salary relatively speaking.
People get so caught up in stats and its his presence and IQ we need the most. He knows how to win...I don't see him being scared of the moment. He will make the correct play and most importantly take the ball out of hardens hands allowing him to be a 2 guard while cutting down those stupid turnovers. Sergio can create easy baskets for our stars, so stats will not always paint the picture....its his impact on the game. Are we just gona continue to pretend that we know more than morey??? when will that ever stop? lolol If morey says we were bringing in Sleepy Floyd at 56, I would roll with it....quietly lol
Ty Lawson provides all of the above, at the same age, with 6 years of previous NBA experience, coming off a season averaging 9.6 assists per game with an ass/to ratio of 4. If Llull comes over, and we can hang onto smoove and add another piece, that is great. I believe Llull will be a slight upgrade over Beverley, like you said, he can make the right play and he can score. But I don't think he's the answer, and I don't think bringing over a 27 year old Euro pg who's never played in the league and expecting him to move the needle significantly or contribute is wise.
