So, is there a connection between the punch an the knee injury? Did he hurt his knee BECAUSE he got knocked in the head?

Yes. Looks like he got dazed/knocked out briefly by the punch and then fell backwards awkwardly without having any bodily control.

Did you even see it? Chrowder's knee got stuck under him when he fell. You can tear up some stuff in that knee by doing that. He couldn't even put pressure on that leg..

Pretty much. Look at how he fell when he got clocked in the face.

Smith should get way more than a game suspension for that. That was a serious punch.

    I'm thinking 3 to 7 games, honestly.

The more I watch the Jae/Smith punch, the worst it looks. He should get suspended for the whole playoffs for that one. I'm so disgusted at what he did.

Yeah, I saw it. I think there IS a connection. Just wanted to know what other posters think. I don't think the connection is that obvious though. I hope this JR is suspended big time. How can you lose it that bad while being up 20!?

Cavaliers are in trouble. I remember last time JR Smith got ejected in Game 3 against the Celtics, his Knicks team went from a possible swept to beating the Celtics in game 6. They have Love out and letting the Celtics try to make a comeback from 21 down.

I don't know how anyone can be surprised. JR is one of the biggest knuckleheads in NBA history. He does stupid things for no reason whatsoever, and just does not know any better. As the Knicks learned a few years ago, you can never ever depend on JR Smith, no matter how good or composed he may look. The wheels WILL come off at some point.

cavs are struggling now. if JR will only be suspended for 3 games maybe it would be better for the cavs to lose this game and get JR back one game earlier in the second round

JR is notorious for cheap shots. He hit JET with a serious elbow in the playoff a couple of years ago even though the Knicks were beating up the Celtics by 19 in the 4th quarter.

You know what? I wish the NBA was more strict on players who have records of doing dirty actions on the court. Honestly, the game would be so much better if the league would kick out players like Smith who have a history of cheap shots and dirty plays. Tired of watching this crap and the NBA should be embarrassed letting guys go with only slaps on the wrist. Guys like Smith should have no place on this league, no matter how talented he is.

Just another instance of talent excusing actions. Disgusting.
