The only thing that really hurt Kubiak last year....predictability. If arm chair coaches like myself can call out plays, you have to believe that opposing teams already envisioned getting their pick 6.

Exactly. Always my biggest gripe with Kubiak. Wade too. Its why he is always more effective early on.

Football is a game of adjustments. Let's just hope O'Brien can make the correct ones. Making the wrong ones is the only thing worse than what Kubiak and Wade were doing.

Agree on Kubiak... Disagree on Wade. I think his biggest problem was maintaining and developing personnel. Good consistent 3-4 defenses are hard to maintain. Over the years Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco are the only teams that have been able to do it IMO...

Well that's disturbing news, I really hope that BOB is smart enough to abandon Fitz if he can't protect the ball. I was hoping for this coach to bring on more accountability but it seems like Fitz could be his Schaub.

Fitz sucked, but it's not like Case really played well either. If Fitz continues to suck, then maybe Case can make a run at the job, but he actually has to take it. He won't earn it by competing a couple of passes to the RB near the line of scrimmage.

Fitz isn't OB's Schaub. Kubes was committed to Schaub. Not just for a season, but long term. Fitz is a placeholder. There's no franchise QB on the roster. Kubes that Schaub was a franchise QB but I don't think anybody is under any illusion that Fitz can be that guy.

We're not winning the superbowl this year and the first pick of next years draft is a qb so let Fitz manage the game. He only looked bad because protection broke down. The focus should be on the offensive line, Kupper shouldn't be in the league much less a starter and the still pathetic secondary (Brandon Flowers was cut and the Texans had the #1 waiver priority and thought Brandon Harris was a better fit). Why is Rick still employed? This week with the mixed practices with the falcons will be telling about just how bad we are

Case didn't look bad though, he just had to deal with a lot of penalties because the unit he was out there with was awful and an unfortunate drop that ended one of only 2 chances he got. had he performed exactly the same over 11 pass attempts instead of 5, he'd have had the same performance that Manziel had that everyone is calling "solid". It's too bad that Griffin dropped that pass that hit his hands or we'd have gotten to see more.

So your plan after one preseason game is to tank the season?

    1) Remember that the first penalty was a delay of game, which is something Case has reportedly struggled with in practice.

    2) I wouldn't call it an awful drop by Griffin. Case led him a little too much and he had to kind of dive for it. It could've been caught, but it's not one of those passes where it hit him in the chest or in stride and he just dropped it (like Alfred Blue did).

    1. That's true, but the other 5 in a row were on the terrible backup O line. Also, BOB later said that the delay of game penalty was something he did, now that could just be a coach deflecting blame off of a young player, or it could be that he didn't get the play in on time. No way of knowing.

    2. Well, he did lead him a bit, but it still hit his hands. It could have been a better pass, but anytime a QB hits their receiver in the hands, I'm not going to blame them for it.

Either way, I'd like to see him get some burn with the first squad unless Fitz figures out how to protect the ball. There really isn't any excuse for why he played so poorly given that he was with the first team and he stayed in the game with the first team even after the first team defense left the field.

Bobby here's the sad truth about this team, Fitz is the best qb on this team. Unless you go out and get Josh Freeman to learn this oh so difficult offense one month to the season Fitz is the starter. So the best thing now is to protect him with offensive line improvement. The defense is inept at secondary so they need to be watching the waiver wire and sign every live body that's can play safety or corner and see what they got before they have to make cuts. Those are the two biggest weaknesses that can be improved. You can't do a James Harden week before the season trade for a qb with this offense and Keenum was not impressive enough to take the reigns with confidence. Some of you guys need to be real with yourselves. When the team is complete (Cush, J. Jo, Dre, Foster, Nix) it will look better but o line and secondary will still be the weak spots

Well first of all, I'm not sure that Fitz is the best QB on the team unless he learns to protect the ball better.

Secondly, the O line isn't a weak spot on the team, now you can argue that O line depth is a weakness, and I'd agree, but plug in Brooks or XSF instead of Kupper and we have a very solid starting line.

There's way too much overreaction to one preseason game around here.

I wouldn't mind a Richie Incognito signing to sure up the guard depth is all I'm saying. What's your opinion to the secondary?

Oh wow. I'd rather not have guard depth than sign that guy.

As to the secondary, it has been pretty awful so far, hopefully getting Cushing and Joseph back will help but that's our biggest weakness on defense.

I'd rather sign him here and bring some nastiness to our o line rotation than to have him sign with the colts
