How do you get physically bad defensive players at 4 positions to "play defense" when they are out there at the same time? Is Carlisle going to make Nelson taller or Felton less fat? Is he gonna make Monta 2 inches taller or actually care about D? Is he going to improve Parsons lateral foot quickness or get him to think about D when he has to prove he is a cornerstone player by scoring? Is he gonna make Dirk 7 years younger and physically tougher to bang with the elite PFs? Is the coach gonna keep Chandler from missing half the season with nagging injury after nagging injury? If Carlisle can't do all this then Dallas will suck. Period.

Actually Morey said we were title contenders if we signed Bosh. Since we didn't he let Parsons walk because we weren't title contenders with him on the team and no Bosh. Signing Parsons and saying that is a championship Big 3 is what would have been delusional.

I can see the Rockets and Mavs finishing in the 4 and 5 spots or vise-versa next year. That would be one heated playoff series and would really jolt further animosity into the geographic rivalry between the two cities.

Depending on injuries (Dirk) they will be a 4 - 8 seeded playoff team. Never really have the chance to chase a title for the next 3-4 yrs & I'm okay with that.

Kobe is "proven" too, but that doesn't make him a better player than Howard or Harden at this point in his career.

Ray Felton is the Ryan Fitzpatrick of starting PGs.

People around here spend so much time complaining that Rockets fans are negative... I think people are being too self-critical. Public opinion is swinging like a pendulum around here.

Either we're upset that there's too much doom and gloom in the GARM, or we're upset that Rockets fans are delusional for being optimistic.

    Well... which is it?

I don't feel like a lot of people around here are planning a Championship parade. Quite the opposite.

C'mon Clutchfans. Can't we just have honest opinions without needing some sort of public court about whether it's morally right or wrong? Right now it's the whole world against us. Let's lighten up a bit.

What whole world against who? Rockets as a team isn't on anyone's radar and it's not out of spite or envy. Just apathy.

Delusional or not, the Mavs are NICE! They have a very very very solid team in place. Parsons honestly is just the piece they were missing, his size, youthfulness, and confidence playing beside Dirk and Monta......yea they are definitely contenders.

Carlisle has all the pieces he needs, Dallas will be a scary team in June.

They lost Matrix and Vince who was great off the bench. Calderon spaced the floor with his long range shooting and they haven't replaced that.

I get the hype - they added some talent with Parsons and Chandler. But they also lost three key players from last year's squad. I think they'll be right where they were last year. I don't see them jumping up in the standings.

The Mavs offense last year was built off being an incredibly good 3 point shooting team allowing great spacing, and they let the 3 best of them go....

Chandler Parsons is the next Larry Bird and the Mavs are the new 80's Celtics. Watch out for these guys next season..

Pleasantly surprised by the comments here. Guess not all of Clutchfans are delusional homers. The Mavs are solid and on paper a much better team than we are. Milk Hair better get his **** together or this is going to be a painful rivalry.

    On paper:

Pbev > Felton or Harris or Nelson
    Beard > Ellis
    Ariza = parsons
    Tjones < dirk
    D12 > Tyson

    Regarding team chemistry,

And has anyone asked dirk how he feels about taking a pay cut ala Tim Duncan

Then Cuban pays max money to role player and replaces 3 starters with new players?

Actually their offense was mostly built on the dirk/monta pick n roll.
