I didn't know one tweet can cause so much anal devastation to the posters on this board.
Considering that this player is likely to leave the organization during the off-season, it seems like some posters here are becoming more obsessed about Lin than some "Lin only fans".

This is not a stain on the Rockets PR in any way.

By showing that we are willing to get rid of Lin to pursue a top FA, other top tier FAs will show interest in us.

No one wants to come here to play with Lin over Parsons.

I don't think Lin should have made that tweet. However, Verbatim's point I think is that this whole thing may have been avoided in the first place if they had simply notified Lin in advance.

Lol at they assumed Jeremy is just a nice Christian so he wouldn't do anything about it.

Uh ok. More like they assumed Lin is a professional like Beverley, Scola, etc... Before him.

But it's quite clear he's not a professional. Running to cry to the media instead of voicing your concerns internally is disgusting.

There is just as much evidence that the rockets did inform him versus they did not. It just depends on whether you believe the rockets organization or Jeremy Lin's agent.

That being said. Even if they didn't inform him who the hell cares? This is a common practice in the nba. It's happened to countless players. This is the first instance of one crying to the media about it.

What is the difference if they informed him anyway?

    The informative phone call:

DM: "Jeremy, we're gonna use your number in Melo promotional material. Are you OK with that?"
    JL: "Not really."
DM: "OK, well, you've been notified. TTYL."
    JL: "Bye."

It couldn't have hurt? May have taken away some Rocket-bashing-ammunition

Well it's unlikely either side was being malicious and intentionally lying, so the most likely scenario is that there was some breakdown in communication.

Regardless whether you think the situation could have been handled better by Morey or whether Lin is just being a crybaby (or both), the upshot is many people are being left with the perception of the Rockets org as being at fault. Maybe all of the uproar is just from LOF's (though I took a quick glance at that reddit thread, I'm a bit doubtful that 99% of r/nba is made up of Lin fanatics... maybe they're just Rockets haters?).

Anyways, it's too bad this bit of unpleasantness happened, but it's gonna blow over and be forgotten.

Rockets management hasn't said anything about informing Lin beforehand.

Unnamed source does not equal rox management. In the end you still choose what you want to believe. By putting their names out there, Lin's agents have put their reputations on the line and that gives them more credibility.
