Wow big news! Brewer being waived was just a matter of time. Maybe they were waiting to see which player from the D-League to sign up. It was always between Daniels or Corvington.

 

Don't see why this would have anything to do with Harden. He clearly can't and wouldn't be a replacement.

I think it probably does mean that we aren't looking to make a splash signing off the waiver wire. Could be because we don't want any guaranteed salary tied to 2014-2015, just in case we are able to clear Asik and Lin over the summer.

 

Nice to see the Rockets sign Daniels before he gets called up and signed by another team like Johnson was this past season.

 

Can't believe Daniels has lasted this long in the D-League without being signed, and glad the Rockets were able to snag him.

That being said it doesn't say much about the confidence Morey has about snagging one of these veterans that will get bought out here shortly in the next 24 - 48 hours (Granger, Davis, Terry, Gordon, etc). Maybe Morey knows its a long shot and doesn't want to take the chance, or Greg Smith is on the chopping block as someone who could get the ax in this case.

 

Hardly surprising when the RGV shoots like 45 3s each game. lolz.

 

Troy Daniels can seriously shoot the 3 ball, a great weapon for the perimeter.

Daniels shoots over 13 3's a game and makes over 40% of them, that's amazing.

 

Guess he'll take Brooks spot (or lack thereof) in the rotation. Bummer cause I wanted to see Canaan play, but maybe they don't think he's ready yet. We basically traded Ronnie Brewer (a scrub SG) for another scrub SG who can shoot better and is younger. That's a win.

Covington was already signed to a three year minimum contract (second year only $150.000 guaranteed, third year unguaranteed) in summer.

You are right. I got Corvington mixed up with Daniels thought they have the same status. Corvington did get a call up to the Rockets around 2 weeks ago so he must have signed already.

 

I have to say he has great form on his jump shot... squares up well, no no extra motion in his shot and really has a nice soft jump. Of course, he hasn't done it in the NBA yet, but after seeing so many players with ugly shooting form, it is good to see someone that at least has the fundamentals to be a successful shooter.
