Carl, you really ought to lay off attempting to measure Howard. We all know what you really want to measure, and Dwight will never let you take a yard stick and hold it up to his junk. It just ain't gonna happen, bro. Sorry! Also, where's the option to vote, "Who knows?"

he needs to quit turning the ball over. As for his physical attributes, probably the best combo of size and speed out there.
Wasnt this one of the reasons why he looked forward to being mentored by guys who were undersized, like mchale and the dream, rather than getting advice from kareem or shaq?
He was drafted as a 7 footer, but truly he's closer to 6'9". Don't believe, look at the picture with him next to Hakeem, listed at 6'10"
He's always been 6'9, he was just listed at 6'11 lol. Just like TRob is obviously 6'7 and is listed as 6'10. Also Howard is far from undersized, he's 260+, has a 7'4 wingspan with a 35 inch vert. Im amazed by how stuck on stupid people get with height. Bill Russel was listed at 6'9, which means he was probably 6'7 ish and he only weighed 230. Undersized!!
Yes we are suggesting that. True big men like Cousins and Perkins man handled him. Hell Perkins pushed him so far off the block Dwight was shooting jumpers.
So Dwight lacks strength, is undersized, and unskilled, that's what everybody here is suggesting. How exactly is he the most productive center in the NBA. Why doesn't every big man in the league do what he does. Jesus, you guys are acting like he's some weakling just because he can't Shaq his way through every player in the league. His length is not undersized period, it is just factually incorrect to suggest otherwise.
He's the size he is and like any player he has favorable and unfavorable match ups. He doesn't do well against Perkins and Bargnani for some reason but well against some big guys like Hibbert. There are chemistry problems with Howard, not guys on the perimeter to blame. There was a time when Harden and Howard were getting good chemistry but something happened and now there's miscommunication. What doesn't work is when a player picks up their dribble and tries to get Howard the ball when he's 10/11 feet out. The best play when that happens seems to be Parsons and sometimes Beverley will get it to Dwight and cut and sometimes that play has worked very effectively. Lin just will lob it too him and then go to get free beyond the arc somewhere. Lin has gotten the ball to Howard when he was deep at times, but their chemistry is hit or miss. Jones and Howard have had some chemistry too. Parsons has looked good lobbing the ball to him but it's on and off. They just don't seem to be able to get it consistently to Howard when he's in his best position. When it comes to late 4th quarters in tight games I don't like going to Howard. Unless he can get and 1s, he's not at all dependable at the foul line. There's also no 3 point specialists usually in crunch time. No Delfino, Casspi and Garcia aren't reliable. Then hopefully the 3s come from Harden, Lin, Parsons or Beverley and the ball goes through Harden, not so much to Dwight for inside/outside post up or kick outs. Dwight may not see the ball that much then, unless teams go into hack-a-Dwight. So late 4th, he's providing defense, and maybe he just has to accept that or become a reliable foul shooter.
I remember Dwight dunking with Garnett and Kendrick Perkins both draped all over him during the playoffs a few years back. He is certainly strong in the upper body. He may have lost lower body strength due to the back issue because he does seem less capable of bullying folks in the paint like he did pre-back injury but that may be more about him adapting his style of play than it is loss of ability. I was pretty close to the court during the Warriors game a few weeks back and Dwight looked taller than Parsons and Terrence Jones so if Dwight is 6'9" then those guys are about 6'7 or just under 6'8". Another thing I noticed about Dwight when seeing him in person for the first time is that his build is much more balanced and proportional than most big men. If I didn't have other people next to him as a point of reference I would have guessed him 6'2ish.
I'm glad he's lost some mass, for a few reasons: - Players who get lighter as they exit their prime seem to age well on the court. - If he wants to be quick in the post, he needs more agility. - Dwight has had some injury issues, and being lighter helps. - We run a lot, so this helps him run and reduce pressure on lower body. Muscle is heavy, which can be bad if for example your lower body is not developing in balance with your upper body. Fine if you only care about how you look, but not fine if you're an athlete. I think a lot of it has to do with the adjustment to his diet and what was described IIRC as lots of muscular imbalance in his body when he joined the Rockets. I wish we had done something similar with Yao, might have extended his career if we hadn't become so obsessed with bulking him up. I was watching some games from his rookie season the other day and man, he had way more moves in the post earlier in his early career.
Undersized compared to today's centers, however, his strength and athleticism makes up for his height.
