You mean a label like "closer"?

That is exactly what I am talking about. Oftentimes, a game situation is in the 6th or 7th inning. Rather than bringing in the best or second best one inning pitcher to get out of an inning, the 3rd or 4th guy is brought in.

    Whoa.

@astros: The Astros have selected the contract of RHP Jorge De Leon from Triple A and have optioned RHP Jose Cisnero to Triple A.

Cisnero has looked really bad lowlighted by his two home run outing last night (not that any of the bullpen has looked good)

Why doesn't Jason Stoffel get a chance? He has put up really good numbers the last 2 years. De Leon had a 7.70 ERA last year and can't strikeout Chris Carter.

You'd be describing Wilton Lopez a few years ago.

The big difference for me is that Lopez had a great groundball rate. Leon does not.

That's probably the most logical reason. De Leon is probably 38th or 39th in terms of importance in the 40-man roster.

This is something I wish was addressed. Stoffel deserved to be on the club a few months ago... not too sure why he is being left out.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Chapman get the chance.

Kind of unknown to whether or not Blackley is actually gone. No release from Astros. Was he placed on waivers, or was he DFA'd?

Everybody pretty much goes on August waivers.

@astros: Effective Friday, the Astros will select the contract of LHP Kevin Chapman from AAA.

Glad to see this. I'm not sure of his stats for this season, but I liked Chapman as a lefty reliever ever since he was acquired from the Royals, and he had a strong 2012 season in our system.

Nailed it. Love it, never really liked Blackley to be honest. Nothing too good and takes way too long to pitch.

lulz. From from not being a Luhnow guy. I agree with a vast majority of the decisions he makes, but I am just questioning this one. Sure, he probably has an actual reason, but I got tired of seeing the Ambriz and Blackleys of the world before this guy.

Ha! And while I post wanting to see Stoffel, Chapman is called up! Exactly what I have been hoping to see for awhile now! Giving those AAA a chance to make a name for themselves. They literally cannot be worse than a bullpen that has blown 4 of its last 5 save opportunities
