There could be potential to groom him into Asik's back up or should they get Dwight his future replacement.

I think he surprises most people who haven't really seen him with his ability to make some nifty passes. He just needs to get past those fouls and inability to shoot.

If the Rockets weren't looking to create more cap room I'd have him on the team instead of Greg Smith. He can make the type of shots Smith is given but he also has the potential to be the defender the Rockets need at back up C. Smith just doesn't have the feel for team defense.
