McHale has two more years left on his contract, with team option the last year. I seriously doubt Les will pick up the option. Les likes winning more than throwing money. I hope he comes to reaization this summer that he made a mistake in hiring McHale. The way I see it. Les will let Morey make the determination on the fate of McHale and next coach. Morey just signed an extention and his job is secured for next 4 years. Now with the pieces in place, he can definitely go 'all in' with next coach. The countdown begins next year. If he sticks with McHale, he just might be wasting one year of his new contract. If by the end of Morey's contract and Rockets still aren't contending, you can bet Les will move on with this Moneyball approach. I have this gut feeling that he will bring back JVG this summer. You can tell JVG salivating over this team whenever he is in the broadcast booth. Morey always praises highly of him. The only thing that will holding back this marriage is how much 'control' JVG willing to surrender.
I really wish JVG was our coach. This team would be probably at least 6th if he was in charge. Wish we could bring him back, but considering Mchale gets the credit for taking the youngest team in nba to the playoffs, it just looks bad around the nba to fire him. So yea, he'll be here until at least next year
What you said is simply McHale cannot control Harden. Why would that be an excuse for McHale? Why do we need a coach cannot control his player?
If Rox gets swept, it is 50/50 he goes, if they are competitive and win one or two, I think he stays. The sooner he goes, imo, the sooner the team gets a lot better. DD
We would have not made the playoffs with JVG. We would play a slow paced game and have no offense at all. The things Clutchfans take for granted.
You need to take things into perspective and try to look it from those teams that have been losing for a while. Which position would you rather be in? This is year one and it's ridiculous how people complain.
Exactly. Mcfuc&boy is happy with making the playoffs. Thats acceptable in Minn. Here at Houston we like championships. Anything less is losing.
If you consider my perspective of future event ridiculous, just take it with a grain of salt and move on. If you don't want to read fans complaints about McHale in a thread titled "Official Fire McHale Thread," don't click. It doesn't make you a better complainer complaining about other complainers
There is no coach currently in the NBA or ex, including Phil Jackson, who would have won a championship with the current team this year. NO ONE. You guys gone ****ing full r****d.
We can agree to have different opinions and we can discuss those differences with logic amd sound reasoning. We dont have to resort to name calling. That os just childish. Excuse my spelling as i am typing on my phone.
The issue is whether or not with the talent and maturity of the players on this team, they are overachieving or underachieving? Talent is something the General Manager finds , the coach is supposed to design strategy to put the players in a best position to succeed. A concrete example would be letting Carlos Delfino guard Pau Gasol. Will Delfino be in a position to succeed , get a rebound against the taller player? Will Harden be able to succeed if all five defenders are watching and anticipating his move?
Houston is used to Championship caliber coaching and has never had to deal with such atrocious coaching until now. These are Houston's past coaches: Rudy T ( Multiple championships, playoffs ), JVG (Finals appearance, playoff experience) , Rick Adelman ( Multiple Finals appearances, Multiple playoffs , hall of fame career, not to mention historic 22 game winning streak ). Then we have kevin mchale (39-55 record as coach , no finals appearance as coach, no playoff experience as coach, completely wrecked, devastated, destroyed the timberwolves organization as general manager). There is a tradition of hiring excellent coaches in Houston which was broken by the hiring of Mcfail.
Honest question for McHale's supporters. Do you think McHale is our guy going forward? Lottery teams try to rebuild and make the playoffs. Fringe playoff teams try to become contenders or even champions. Is McHale the guy that can make us into contenders?
So funny: Hey gaiz, you already forgot that our team is the youngest in the leagues, let's be positive, and stop complaining. BTW you gaiz are all r****ded, know nothing about basketball, pathetic, idiotic, and ungrateful. Stay positive though
I wouldn't call myself a McHale supporter, but I whole heartedly subscribe to the theory that coaching has a very minor effect on how a team performs. If McHale was the coach of the Thunder or Heat I feel they would still easily be the top teams in each conference. So to answer the question, I think that it depends on 2 things... Who do we add/subtract from the roster going forward and what coaches become available that morey and les feel are a better fit than mchale? If we add another superstar soon and we perform like we should, then yeah I can see him being here. If we don't improve the roster before his contract is up then I think he will be gone. Simple as that.
The problem is not should McHale be fired---- at least for me if the coach cannot manage its players to execute game plays or even if there is some set plays by the coach, then he/she should be fired. What the real problem is , who should be the next coach for houston rockets? JVG?Sloan?Phil Jackson?or even Adelman?
