I actually don't blame him. He wants to go to wherever he can play backup right away, and to wherever he has a shot to show his skills.

    Why? He also said:

    - Lin has a lot of talent
    - Lin is more of a scoring PG while he is more of a pure point guard
    - He hopes to take the same rout to starting in the NBA that Lin did
    - He thinks Lin is a good player
    - Wants to show his talent and be able to play there (Houston) as well

    No story here, move along.

Yiikes, if Toney Douglas is better than him, then he must be terrible.

What about Felton, who said he was better than Lin and every other point guard in the NBA, including Chris Paul and Westbrook?

i would guess machado's comments are in response to everyone talking about lin as our starting point guard, and the others competing against each other for the backup spot. he probably wants to compete for the starting position, or think he has a shot. whereas, since lin is such a thing, seems like there is less of a chance that machado takes lin's spot even if machado eventually outplays lin.

i'm just thinking what the lead in Q might have been to get machado to say something like he said.

basically all he said is he wants to start. which is good for him to want to do.

I hate players who think they are better than they actually are -- NBA and pick-up ball.

Get real dude, you and your gator arms are forever third string material.

    Lin's senior year, Harvard U
    16.4 points
    4.4 rebounds
    4.5 assists
    2.4 steals
    1.1 blocks

Unanimous selection for All-Ivy League First Team.
Candidates for the John R. Wooden Award and finalists for the Bob Cousy Award.
First player in the history of the Ivy League to record at least 1,450 points (1,483), 450 rebounds (487), 400 assists (406) and 200 steals (225)

Scott Machado senior year, Iona College
    13.6 points
    4.9 rebounds
    9.9 assists
    1.6 steals
    0.2 blocks

school record for assists in a season (281)
    named first team all-conference
named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award and the Wooden Award

In comparison, his assists/game is outstanding. Other than that and rebounds, Lin has the edge. If he thinks by only comparing assists/game that he is a better player, yeah, he can certainly say he is better than Damian Lillard, CP3, Rondo, Magic...

    He really should STFU.

I had to fend off Machado-Suckers for a few days on here. This lead to people questioning my intellect and fandom...who looks like the idiot now?

Machado is straight hot garbage and I hope he doesnt even get a non-guaranteed deal ANYWHERE in the NBA.

I don't mind Machado's competitiveness, but what he said is simply derespectful. You were undrafted, you didnt have a better college career so stfu and earn your spot before opening your mouth.

No, you are still an idiot. What he said does not take anything away from him as a player.

If you get passed up in the draft by 10 guys whose names you can't pronounce and can't play in the NBA until after the next draft you are a long shot. I doubt he makes an NBA roster this year.

NBA backup is a reasonable ambition for him unlike Scotty Hopson who contended he would be a round 1 draft pick. But like Hopson, Machado will need to take his game to Europe before he comes to the NBA.

He did have a better career than Lin albeit @ a smaller school. He scored one less bucket a game, doubled Lin's assist numbers, rebounded about the same.
Let's not forget Harvard ain't exactly basketball either.

    Was Lin drafted?

    WTF was so 'DERESPECTFUL'?
    Think before you type guppie.

I like Jeremy Lin. I also like that Machado said this. Lin should fight for his spot. I know Machado is more likely to be a 3rd string or maaaaaybe second but its good he wants and is competitive. Most likely a quote over blown. We need depth at pg. Machado should stay. Its his best chance to play and who knows how Lin performs here in Houston.
