As long as Big Baby isn't in the deal, I'm fine with any trade.

you people are all seriously over-reacting to this poorly written ESPN report. There is no way DM sends out picks + young prospects + eats ORL's bad contracts. It's just not his style - what moves has he made in the past that have demonstrated his willingness to do anything like that (give up all future flexibility)? He knows, just as any casual NBA fan does, that a team whose 2nd and 3rd best players are Richardson and Davis will not contend, even if the best player is Howard. ORL has demonstrated that for the last two years. DM's goal is to build a contender, not to get Howard. He (D12) is just part of that larger whole.

ORL wants both to rid their roster of crappy contracts, and to acquire highly valuable prospects + lottery picks in order to rebuild - the fact of the matter is they are, most likely, floating this idea out to the media so that when the offers become more reasonable, Hennigan can come out and say 'I tried to get as much as possible.'

Personally, I think one of two things will happen:
a - the Toronto pick will be kept off the table because 1) ORL is almost entirely out of leverage at this point, and 2) DM can save that for a second trade either now or at the deadline for another impact player (Josh Smith, Rudy Gay and Andre Iguodala all come to mind). Keep in mind Hennigan still has to answer to the team's owner, and when offered either potentially top 5-8ish pick or not having to overpay for role players, most owners of teams who will not be putting butts in seats anytime soon will take the latter and save some money, since that will turn in to lottery picks anyway.

b - the Toronto pick goes in to play, and it means we only take back one ugly contract, to send out w/ Martin, Patterson, Morris and maybe Royce White or Chandler Parsons (though not both). They still have to hold on to their crappy contracts in ORL, but they get back a huge asset for re-building their roster by doubling the amount of lottery talent they can take a look at in next year's draft.

But there's no way DM is dumb enough to make the Rockets in to the Magic sans Ryan Anderson and Jameer Nelson, unless it means he can keep other assets like that pick and some young prospects to deal in the future to build a contender AROUND Howard.

Worst case scenario after we amnesty Scola, we have to sign FA's and build a *decent* team, with literally ONE legit veteran in Martin. This team will rebuild one way or another. Hopefully its with the Rockets getting Dwight and gambling that way but if it doesn't work out, we're stuck with the other Magic players till we can get them off the books. Iono, odd situation to be in, to be honest.

Worse case scenario maybe one of the players we give up makes the all star team once or twice but even that Is unlikely!! We are trading in a few Toyota corollas for a damn Bugatti! Why do y'all not get this?

FIRE MOREY, WTH KIND OF PROPOSAL IS THAT?

think about it, the reason why dwight doesn't want to stay in orlando is because of his crappy supporting cast (amongst other reasons).

what good would it do to trade for dwight when he is still going to be unhappy in houston since he STILL won't have a good supporting cast? this is just BS, howards gonna walk out on us regardless.

FIRE MOREY if this trade goes down.

I'll be surprised if Lamb and one of Jones/White aren't on their way out. It won't be both Jones and White because like CH said, Orlando already drafted a PF.

DMo can't be traded for a month, and I don't see this saga lasting much longer.

I also agree with CH that Patterson and Parsons don't really make sense for a rebuilding team.

Morris is exactly the type you throw onto the court and see what he becomes, which will fit with Orlando's plan.

    So here is my guess:

    Lamb
    T Jones
    Morris
    Toronto pick
    Dallas pick
    Martin
    NYK Two 2nd rounders

Given that Houston will be taking on significant salary from Orlando, this seems fair. Essentially 5 first round picks, 2 second rounders, and an expiring Martin.

So is LA basically out of it? :/

And would the Rockets rather have Bynum (more likely to resign) orHoward (riskier but better).

Laker fans are definitely in favor of risking it all for Howard.

Dwight coming in for a couple months and then bolting at the cost of all our youth and cap room, is gonna set the Rockets back more than Yao Ming's feet and T-Mac's brain.

This is about the most ignorant thing I've ever read .. Your spine is the essence of your entire body.I don't give a crap how muscular you are,if you have back problems it will affect every move you make.

I'm not pretending to know how bad his back might be but that statement is absolutely ludicrous.

Some of you are so star struck that you'll convince yourself's of anything.

Chances any of our rookies turns into the best player at his position --> 3% (and thats generous.. more like 0.5%)

    vs

    Chances Dwight Howard Re-signs --> 50% ???

I agree, you can give them everyone.

This. Great summation of the risks involved in this trade (assuming we are giving up all that much).

    Rep'd.
