well...he's not chinese so.... lol it's like being surprised that all white ppl don't identify with dirk
Everything is relative. Europeans like Greeks probably identify with Dirk even though they aren't "exactly" Deutsch. Lin obviously has more followers in China than, say, Jonny Flynn.
Not sure if you saw it, but GlenRice explained his disdain for Asians a few months ago. Apparently he had a bad "experiment" with one and now he hates all of them, lol. What that "experiment" entailed, I don't want to know.
Not all white Germans, just like not all Chinese fans like Jeremy. Personally, I think he can be a backup PG right now, and one day become an above average starting PG in the NBA. Competes, good intangibles, big, good D, athletic. Just needs to shoot better and manage the team better.
Actually his biggest knock is he's not athletic at all. Cannot get past his defenders and at times turns it over due to lack of speed. Also shooting isn't very good. But Lin is a very good player, skilled and very smart on both ends. GSW sent him to the D-league for a week and he was the best PG there. If no other team wants him, I think there's a good chance he'll play in China this season -- as an American.
Lin is basically a total american. his true identity is an american asian and its just that. chinese people do not identify with him anywhere near the level they do with yao or yi. lin is a rolemodel to american asians (note the word american) in the way yao is a rolemodel to chinese people.
Damn thats all bad. They just pulled him from practice and did it. They could have at least waited til everybody left.
If there are still people questioning Morey's methods. It's the same across the league. All players are treated like "assets".
Would love to have an Asian American on the team. He can double up as a third string PG with garbage time minutes and a stat geek with Morey's team.
