http://www.babynamewizard.com/archives/2011/5/the-most-popular-baby-names-of-2010 The Social Security Administration has released the official rankings of the most popular baby names in America for 2010, The new top 10: Boys: Girls:
Not surprised to see Aiden on there. Read in freakonomics that "the popular names" are often names of rich men's children from 10-15 years before... or something of that sort.
my nephew that was born in 2010 is on there (Alex) but not my niece which Natalie is a common name. where the hell is Dave???
Names for kids lately suck. Especially girls names. NSFW language, not meant to offend anyone. Good luck...and congrats!!! My daughter was born in October of last year...I wanted to name her Isabel (a name I have liked for a while...before it was on any of these lists...my wife wanted Aubrey)...but initially, we chose the name Christian if the baby were to be a boy (maybe for Christian Hosoi)...but since it was a girl that was coming and we couldn't agree on our first choices, we named her Christiana. My first daughter's name is Chloe (partly because of a soap character in Days Of Our Lives that my wife liked...and partly (jokingly) because we used a fertility drug, Clomid).
Lots of old names in that list, with some wierd ones (Jayden, Aiden, Ava) thrown in. It'd be interesting to know how many kids with names like Ethan, Noah, and Emma have the same name as their great-grandparents or great-great-grandparents.
We were aiming for obscure names for all of our kids. Gabrielle is the highest on the list but we also have Lydia and the twins are Roman and Justine. So just when I thought we had a name no one was using I start meeting all these little boys named Roman I even met a couple with a Roman the same age as ours who had chosen Justine as their girl name option!
We have twin boys due in August. I'm still trying to convince my wife that me wanting to name them Clyde and Hakeem is merely a coincidence and has nothing to do with what she calls my "unhealthy obsession" with the Rockets championship years. For some reason, she doesn't buy it.
