Note: I am unsure why the video notes 11/12/10. This footage is from the 3/12/10 game vs. the Spurs.

But what if he was forced to travel because he was fouled by the defender?? At that point, the defensive foul supersedes the traveling violation, does it not?

Was definitely a walk, but the ref in the video was about to call a foul on Blair, which occurred before the travel. The trailing ref called the walk.

i'm not sure why they say it's otherwise legal. if they counted the gather step as being after the dribble, then he would have taken 3 steps, the first two on the same foot, anyway. if they're saying he only took 2 steps, then the gather step would be before the dribble ended and he wouldn't have broken any rules.

I thought he would get that because of the foul, unless there is no foul called then I would agree with the walk.

That's a foul first. You could argue his other leg landed later than it should have because of the foul, which forced the consecutive steps.

He got fouled and was knocked off balance a bit therefore making it an "and 1."

    No travel.

i like these videos, particularly his vids on melo, people are always crying that melo travels but i dont think they under stand the concept of the gather step. its funny sometime people count uo to 4 steps on some vids when in reality its only 2.. or 2.5

If Goran had, after taking his first "gather" step on his left, landed with both feet at the same time and jumped off two feet, would that have been legal? i.e. a "hopstep"? Can anyone clarify?

maybe i didnt watch that right, but it looked like he gathered took a hop and chose a pivot, which is legal.

If Goran had begun his gather after his first step, then he is perfectly entitled to place the same foot on the ground again - establishing it as his pivot foot.

I think the thing the video shows is that he gathers just before his 'hop'. But it's pretty darn close.

This video is ridiculous - they should just paste half of Lebron's drives to the hoop on the page every single game he plays. He travels much more often and in much more illegal fashions than simply missing his timing by a millisecond...

This one's also pretty good, unlike the video quality!
