Why don't a group of us meet there at IAH, then we can all go to the preseason game, with a drink and some food in-between or something like that?
W&S: who do you like to cheer for more, Yao or Wang? For me it will be Wang, because he represents too much that are touchy, and he has too much burden on his shoulder, which I feel sorry for him.
I guess technically it'll be the 21st in China when Yao actually arrives in Houston. Maybe that is leading to the confusion? os
I am cool for that. Its just that, I am not going to the game. Have a test the next day, and I am planning to go the Sixers game on Thurs. which almost certain Yao will be playing some mins. BTW, im 20, so no alchohol for me.
I live in North Houston off of 1960. I live right next to Bush airport. There is even a spot to sit and watch planes land at IAH right down the street from my house. I'll really wanna be there and take my digital camera. Does anybody know the flight number, and what info I need to know to be able to see him getting off the plane?
Cool truth, I live in your area. I know the place you are talking about where the planes land. Anyway Yao, from what I know is flying United therefore it will arrive in terminal A. Unless you have a ticket or a security clearance tag you won't be able to get past security but don't worry. There is only one exit from the gates in that terminal so if you camp out you will see him exit like everyone else, unless they escort him out from the airport tarmac in a limo or something... they have done that before with other celebs.
I seriously doubt they are gonna have a limo out by the plane. I remember seeing footage on the news when David Carr first came to town (before the draft). He walked straight through the terminal. It looked like most of the local tv stations were there. I think the same thing will happen here. The more excitement the Rockets can show around Yao-mania the season tickets they hope to sell. Anyone got a confirmation on the flight number I posted earlier?? os
1. I think you guys need help. 2. There is an article quoting Yao's handlers saying that he will play on Sunday!!!! See. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/10/18/SP236676.DTL Which was posted by RocketForever earlier
You guys are SERIOUSLY bumming me out! Friday I got offered 4 lower prom tickets to Sunday's game which I had to turn down do to prior commitments, now a Yao Ming welcoming party! Crap!!!! I WANT TO BE THERE!!!!! This sucks.
It's not up to Yao's "handlers" to decide If he'll play. Its up to Rudy T. and Yao Ming. His "handlers" can get lost or make themselves more useful by handling things that are made to be handled, like his luggage.
Me too. Somehow I have to get take a break and head out to Terminal A. I'm definitely going to pull a rockHEAD and bring a camera and see if I can get a few pictures of Yao Ming. I think it will be nearly impossible to get an autograph though... Damn.
Yao isn't going to play. His flight gets in at 4:30pm and they will do a press conference at Compaq. He will be at the game to smile and wave but nothing else.
Does anyone know (Doc, Jeff, Clutch, Tim, OS, broccoli, cheese, etc.) if the footage from either (or both) the press conference and the introduction at the game will be put on rockets.com? Please say "yes" for those who are temporarily (or permanently) away from Houston.
I want to go stalking too. I don't know my way around Bush too much. I haven't been there in a lot of years.
I am pretty sure it will. They have had video for pretty much everything from Boki's press conf., Mo Taylor resigning last year, and others. At the very least, they will have a trascript, but it can be safe to say that it will post a video of the press conference.
