In goodbug's defense, I think it was one of the other idiot Kobe fanboys that started that thread (rock4ever?).

Yep, shooting 44% against crappy competition, right on target for a chucker.

BTW, who decides the NBA schedules? I've never seen a more bottom heavy schedule than the Lakers have started with this year. According to Sagarin, they've played just 4 good teams all year (1-3) and only 8 above-average teams (3-5). That is far and away the lowest in the league. WTF, NBA!

That just means their schedule come playoff time will suck.

I'm talking about for the season. For every 11-18 game, he has a 5-18 to balance it out.

Kobe may have lost a step, but he's still a top five player in the league and very dangrous in the last minutes of a close game. Stop hating please.

He's shooting .557 while Gasol .572 for TS%. That's efficient enough in my book.

Hollinger disagree, Kobe's No.2 in PER. Better than LeBron and Wade. Though Hollinger all of sudden lost interest in PER discussion nowadays.

And you've suddenly gained an interest in PER. I guess you two are cut from the same cloth.

Even if Kobe's lost a step or 2, he's still a damn good player because what he can no longer do physically is made up for by his knowledge of the game and his ability to make his teammates better.

MJ lost a step or 2 when he got older, but he was still a hell of a basketball player.

if you watch the lakers, he's getting considerably less double teams. that can be attributed to the lakers' balanced offense and gasol's emergence.

if kobe can actually have less games where he feels the need to take over, he might average a career high in fg% and be even more efficient. i can foresee him shooting 47-48% if he takes what the offense gives him ala what dwade is benefitting from.

No, I think it just proves PER is a useless stat. Hollinger only uses it when it works for his biased view. Even a random walk can be used to prove whatever theory 50% of times.

Wow, seriously, you thought it would be a good idea to resurrect this thread?

Do you remember how he was playing in the preseason that caused this thread to get started?

Kobe is having a very good year. He's still one of the best in the league.

    Point blank period
